Do we have any chance of getting these movies west-side? Someone HAS to license these, PLEASE!

Well this is rather surprising and unexpected. I hated season 2, but I'm willing to watch more of this franchise, since I loved season 1...

Yes! Hype! Maybe CR can get them? Or maybe someone will put it in theaters here in the US? Otherwise I won't be able to see them. Great that they continued the story though! :3 I'm glad it did well enough for them to do this.

Will these movies adapt those side stories from the novels that weren't adapted before ???

Okay, so I was excited when I read the headline. While it wasn't as good as Season 1 (Probably because Naoko Yamada was busy working on A Silent Voice) I still thought Season 2 was pretty solid and I'm excited to see where the story leads.
And then I read a bit further and saw that magic name. Naoko Yamada. Naoko Yamada is directing the Nozomi and Mizore movie. Oh my God I love KyoAni so much. I was just saying before how KyoAni need to give her more chances as a director. While her shows are great, I feel like she shines the most as a film director. It's where she's had the most success, it's a field where she can really let loose with her crazy ideas and most importantly films are what she's most influenced by. Tamako Market is a subject of debate but all three of her movies so far have been absolute crackers. I have no doubt that the fourth one will be too. |

So we get a recap, a more detailed version of Mizore's and Nozomi's past, AND a sequel movie? Thank you KyoAni!

Whoa! More Eupho is perfectly fine by me. While season 2 wasn't as praised as Season 1, it was still pretty decent. It doesn't really deserve a whole lot of hate (As what Mr. Finn said here earlier) as a show for doing what it wants to do, and I'm now very much looking forward to these 2 films. I'm hopeful that Kyoto Animation can keep up the good work and I will not be surprised at all if they do.

It's nice to see more of Euphonium, though I'm not confident it will be licensed in the West in a timely fashion, given how long it took for a number of their movies to get picked up by Sentai.

Very unlikely since Pony Canon owns the license for season 1 animenewsnetwork.com/press-release/2016-03-17/pony-canyon-announces-upcoming-sound-euphonium-bd-and-dvd-release-details/.99894 so, don't expect it to come out anytime soon, since season 2 is still unlicensed and don't expect sentai to license it either, because Pony owns it. |

^I'm not expecting it to come out soon, and I'm not expecting them to be licensed by Sentai necessarily. However, The films I referred to being licensed by Sentai all had Pony Canyon on the production committee, aside from the Beyond the Boundary ones from what information I could find (though they were on the production committee for the original show) so it's not impossible for Sentai to pick it up, again not that I am expecting that to happen

Those were all licensed through TBS, and TBS has nothing to do with the Eupho anime (or at the very least, aren't on the production committee). |

Regardless, the point zrnzle500 is making, stands. KyoAni movies don't come out here very quickly. It's even worse than their TV stuff. So I wouldn't count on getting these super promptly either. I only hope that we get them eventually. Regardless of who picks them up. The theatrical space growing is great, for anime, and for me, as a big fan of the movie format, but licensing of movies outside of Japan(especially in the US, for certain reasons), leaves a hell of a lot to be desired and that's my biggest worry with the growth in that area.
In my dreams they all get theatrical releases within a couple of months, or at least get streamed somewhere like CR when the JP BDs come out or something, so I don't feel the need to resort to other means to see them and end up buying the JP release out of frustration, as was the case with A Silent Voice.... |

I am a big fan of season one. Season two was not as good, but I remain fond of this anime franchise. I am happy that more new anime content is being made, but I have to hold my excitement because of all the uncertainty surrounding the licensing of this franchise in R1.
I also want to mention that with these movies and the new Chuunibyou movie Kyoto Animation seems to be making a bigger push on making movies. I hope this goes well for them because they are one of the best, if not the best, anime studios. |
