Cosplay Melee has been interesting so far - the amount and detail of the work produced is pretty incredible for the timeframe. It's following a similar format to Forged in Fire (another show I recommend) - competitors are only there for the single episode, the winner of the episode gets $10,000 - so the audience isn't likely to get too invested in the competitors.

If you haven't seen Face Off then you really should - it's one of the best competition shows around IMO. The camaraderie in the workroom is possibly the best thing about it - too many shows are focused on promoting discord, but Face Off tends to bring out the best in the competitors (season 1 had some discord, but the guy who was the major cause of that came back for another season and had totally changed his tune). Again, the work produced is often incredible. And although it's rarely alluded to on the show, competitors who go deep into the competition tend to get major work offers out of it.

For similar camaraderie between contestants see also Masterchef (UK and Australia, don't know about US) and The Great British Bake Off.

CM is much closer to Chopped (Food Network) than Face Off, personally.

To give some extra info, episode 6 (finale, April 25) has the theme of "Animelee" (most likely anime). Also, the "2 days" are both 8 hours long (like the first day).

I meant similar in terms of themes of interest to cosplayers.
