I saw evangelion a while back and loved it. I decided I want to buy the set but I wasn't sure which one to get. I wanted to know which one was a better collection?

The Perfect Collection is nothing more than a box set of the original US DVD run. Basically, it's untouched decade-old picture and audio, complete with English text overlays and lacking the Director's Cut footage from the later episodes. The Platinum Collection, on the other hand, is the series with remastered video & audio (looks and sounds like a 2000s-era series as opposed to a budget 1990s-era series), lacks the English overlays, and includes the Director's Cut episodes.
In short, get the Platinum Collection. |

Like Nagisa said, the platinum is preferred but you can get the perfect collection for 38.99 or the platinum one for 80.98 at www.rightstuf.com.

Regardless of price, the Platinum Collection has better picture and sound quality; losing the Eva camera-jiggle alone is worth any extra money spent.
Go with the Platinum Collection. |

Personally I would get the Platinum collection (non thin-pack) if your a really big fan because the insert I thought were really well done. And there were some pretty interesting extras as well, Tiffany Grant interview/room was pretty neat. But if you just want to re-watch the series again I would get the thin-pack because you can save a lot of money that way.
