What's up with Seven Seas? They said the second part of Boogiepop Returns Vs. Imaginator has been available since October. Has anyone found it at their local Border's because I've never seen it and I go there every week. I tried to check on Borders website, but of all things, the site is run by Amazon, which cannot sell it till late next year under Seven Seas exclusive Borders/Waldenbooks deal. What a joke. I wrote Seven Seas and they said they've been having distribution and order problems with the books. They also said that the exclusive was basically the only way for them to get their licensed manga off the ground. Which is great.....but if you sign a deal for a bookstore to promote your books, then at least get the bookstore to stock your books!!! And another thing, you should be able to buy these books online. What type of sense is it that you can't even order Boogiepop books at Borders site? Stupid. Is Boogiepop Dual part 2 going to have the same problems?

I was able to pick it up a month or more ago, and I got it at my local Borders. When I was in looking at something else last week, they had a copy or two on the rack.
Solid finish to the storyline begun in the previous novel, BTW. |

Welcome to the same question I've been asking since February. Hell, you can't even find the Boogiepop books at every brick and mortar Borders store. The more out-of-the-way locations and stores outside of the US, UK, & Canada don't get them at all, which shuts out a pretty good percentage of locations (I have friends in Australia who are livid, LIVID with this nonsense). You'd think if they were going to make the books exclusive to Borders, they'd at least make it exclusive to ALL Borders outlets and not simply a select few. And seeing as their manga/novel line is pretty much off the ground now, you'd think they could cut this stuff out already and stop irritating would-be customers. As for me and my own experiences with the second Imaginator installment, it took a solid month and a half before the Borders near me finally stocked it. |

freshkazuki, just a quick question...Have you asked the sales associates at your local Borders if they can order it for you? I read and re-read your post to see if you had asked and since I didn't see that, I thought that I would ask you.
Even though your particular store may not carry it, they should be able to order it for you, or even find it at a "bigger" store and arrange for it to be sent. While Boggiepop is not a title that I'm interested in, I wish you the best of luck and hope that you succeed very soon in getting it. |

I hadn't really asked at the store because I just assumed there was some sort of publishing delay because my borders seems to have plenty of every other Boogiepop novel and manga except that part 2. I'm gonna stop by there in a bit to see if i can order it.
It just seems odd to me that, like Nagisa said, if you're gonna give an exclusive to borders, at least make sure all the stores stock it. I mean, this is Houston, which is not a small out of the way place. And they somehow need to change the online policy to where you can order Boogiepop books from borders online. Actually why do they even have a website if its really just a shadow operation by Amazon? If you go to the trouble of ordering online, might as well just get your books from amazon I love boogiepop and want to support the franchise in any way I can but Seven Seas and Borders sure are making it more difficult. For now, I'm reduced to reading Kashimashi |

Prepare to enter the Twilight Zone.....
I went to the Border's closest to me to see if I could order Boogiepop Returns 2. But first, I checked the shelves to see if they had Boogiepop Dual 2 and they did, which was great. Anyway, when I asked about Returns she looked it up and said that they had it in stock at one time in October....if you call having only 3 copies "in-stock". That was the only shipment of the book they ever received. 3 freakin copies. She said that sometimes the publisher makes an intentional shortage to cause a buzz about a book. Then I asked if I could order a copy and she said I could not because the book would not be available to their distributors till April . You see, they don't get their books from Borders even though they ARE Borders! So if they request a book from their suppliers, the supplier says that the book hasn't been published because of the "exclusive" deal. SMOOTH MOVE SEVEN SEAS!!!!! She did say that she could notify the Gods of Borders on Mt. Olympus and get more copies of the book, but she could not reserve one for me and would not know when the shipment would come in. In other words, you would never know when it came in and could sell out again without me ever getting a copy. She did call another Borders a couple of miles away and they had ONE copy so I had to drive over there and finally got my hands on the book Something else interesting. Borders no longer partners with Amazon. She says that the borders website is merely informational and is no longer used to order books. What a huge chunk of business they are missing in this day and age. It looks like Seven Seas bet on the wrong horse here, and should have went with Barnes and Noble instead. My advice. If you want a Boogiepop novel or manga from Borders, report there the day it is released when it opens or you just might never see it. The whole situation is plain pathetic and a disservice to Boogiepop fans. Its not good to breed animosity among your customers. |

Is that all of the novels of Boogiepop that Seven Seas will release? I remember reading somewhere that there are I believe, 4 manga, and 11 novels in the series.

I assure you that is definitely not the case. It's simply that fewer copies of the later volumes being ordered as a whole. It happens to even the best manga out there, so it's not isolated to just Boogiepop.
I don't want to upset Australian fans, but I should probably point out that our current focus is on the North American market. We were allowed to let Diamond open up Boogiepop to international Borders stores, but as far as I know, that only included places in Europe like the UK. I really don't have a lot of information to give on the international side of things. That's handled by our distributor. Sorry!
Seven Seas picking up more Boogiepop really depends greatly on how our upcoming Light Novel line's launch does. If you'd like to see more Boogiepop, then the best way to show your support is by supporting Ballad of a Shinigami, Gun Princess, Kanokon, Pita-Ten, Strawberry Panic, and Vamp! when they come out in April/May 2007. So please support them! - Adam Arnold Seven Seas Entertainment http://www.gomanga.com/ |
