Kinda feel sorry for the Japanese. It's been nearly 6 months & still seeing Your Name for the millionth time is preferable to the other crap being screened.

H. Guderian--

Huh? According to the database/Encyclopedia page, Funimation has licensed it. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something?

Your name is very shallow junk food and it was ignored by almost all serious critics in Japan. But In this corner of the world is a real gem which already won almost all major Japanese movie awards. The coverage by ANN is missing this point and unfair.

Haven't seen the movie (I'm waiting for the April US screenings) but I'm very curious what the mainstream narrative around it has been in Japan that has gotten so many people who usually wouldn't watch anime to the theater for such a long period of time. I think that'd make for a more interesting ANN article than these constant news posts simply stating it's doing well.

Clearly you do, as you've been posting the same type of insufferable comments on every Your Name related thread to ad-nauseam. Seriously, it's a lot more annoying than weekly box office reports that this site does regardless.

What do you mean they're "missing the point?" They're just reporting the weekly box office figures. It has relatively nothing to do with you thinking that another film is better than the other. It's not like they're saying Your Name is better than In This Corner of the World, they're giving you the facts that it isn't ranking as highly in the weekly BO earnings. Also, I don't know what your source is for the negative critical reception in Japan, as most site's user scores are generally solid. And what is a "serious critic" anyway? They're just individual opinions like everyone else, aren't they?

Even the Dead Sea isn't as salty as the people on these boards.

At least it is getting a set release. An American faith-based film called "Beyond the Farthest Star" (starring Cherami Leigh) is a few years old and not been officially put on DVD yet
