This was one I dropped after seven chapters it seemed promising but started to feel a little too route and "deterministic" in it's plotting

Too bad, it really didn't feel like it got even close to its stride.

Well damn Jump aint playing no games with any new series anymore. I guess if you dont show some type of result after a certain time period in the rankings then you get the axe. I never read it but it is a real shame

To be fair, most of them bite the dust. It's the exception that survive their early days and make it to their first 100 chapters and beyond.
This is just an unusually turbulent time with so many long running staples ending, and needing replacements. The turn over is going to be unusually high for the near future.
I hope Viz picks up Amalgam of Distortion to replace Red Sprite. Edit: or bring Straighten Up back.

Ah bummer, I was just thinking of how much I enjoyed this weeks chapter. The fight with the Ash Warrior was genuinely thrilling. It was far from perfect but was on the right side of entertaining to be worth the price of admittance and attention.
I'll second a return of Amalgam of Distortion, or even keeping on Demons Plan, chapter one of that was really entertaining.

I try to read everything that starts from chapter 1 in ESJ, but about three chapters ago, I had to drop it. It just bored me too much. I think Yagi still has a long way to go before he can create a successful manga. Even though it was his second serialisation, it felt really amateur-ish.

It's too bad, the basic premise behind this manga was really solid, and the setting, with its WWII-style fantasy world, was interesting. But it just wasn't well written; characters were really bland and the whole first chapter was one big boring infodump.
I feel like Yagi has a lot of potential but his writing just isn't there yet, especially in terms of character work. Hopefully he hones it for a few years and comes back with a third serialization. You never know; the creator of My Hero Academia, Jump's biggest new series in years, had two cancelled manga before he struck gold.

I'm disappointed, I really love the series. I looked forward to this, The Promised Neverland and now the Amalgram. Well now it's 2 left.
