it seems unlikely given Sentai Flmworks, but hope they dub the second season with the same VAs and writing quality as the first (if it does not have the writing quality it is not worth it). I need more stupid sea puns.

Wow... just, wow.
While I have enjoyed watching the second season on Crunchyroll, I've never lost hope that this show would finally get licensed again for a physical release. So, suffice to say, I've been waiting for this day... for three years.
Now, I wonder what Sentai will do about the dub. Rounding up as much of the original cast as they can for the dub of Season 2 and the OVAs would be nice, but I'm actually not particularly expecting it to happen.

it wouldn't be impossible. they did that for the Persona 4 anime and the Fate/stay night movie after all.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I loved the first season of Squid Girl, but it kind of fell off my radar until literally one week ago when I rewatched the first couple of episodes with someone and thought "I really need to pick up the second season" what great timing!! I may be the minority here... but I kind of hope Sentai keeps all of the bad squid puns from Media Blasters' translation.
I was kind of wondering if after the CrunchyMation partnership Sentai might try to do some license rescues. If that is the case, Sentai, may I direct your attention to a particularly despair-filled comedy that MB never managed to put out...

Cool, but I'd prefer to own it. Not if you can wrestle the Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei franchise from them too, Sentai, you'd score even more awesome points with me.

When Sentai released season 2 of K-On they outsourced the dub to match the one from the first season. Squid Girl seems to have enough fans for Sentai to seriously consider investing in a dub for the second season and OVA's.

YES!! My thoughts exactly! Oh what I'd do for Zetsubou Sensei on Blu-ray.... I actually didn't even realize that the Squid Girl news didn't include mention of a home video release. Hopefully that will come in time.

Great news. I own Squid Girl S1 but would love to have the second season and the OVAs, as well. I know the article makes no mention of a home release, but I suspect that is a typo. It makes no sense to have the rights for "streaming, television broadcast and digital streaming" so I think the first reference to streaming was supposed to refer to a physical release. At least that's what I am optimistically believing.

It may have fans, but does it have enough buyers to justify continuing to dub it, same cast or otherwise? I'd expect a pattern more like Sentai's releases/rescues of franchises like Someday's Dreamers and Familiar of Zero: re-using existing dubs where possible, but releasing future parts sub-only.
