I really have high hopes for this movie! It's really to cool that we getc to see this in IMAX. Considering that Rodriguez and Cameron are working together on this, I think they will be able to my favorite manga justice. Rosa Salazar is kinda cute, can't wait to see her as Alita

I wouldn't really hold my breath on this. It's been in development hell for years because Cameron decided the world needed 3 more Avatar films. Even though the people who actually did like that bad movie now kinda don't even give a crap about the series any more than the people who hated it.
But maybe he has the time for Alita because the next Avatar films might just be James Cameron jerking off while looking at the audience saying, "Call me an innovator!"

Wait, this thing has a release date?
I guess handing off the directorial duties to someone else was what the project needed.

Regardless of how this performs, I hope it follows with a license rescue of the classic anime OAV! It needs a new scan in HD. If the original film elements are intact, it should look great.

IIRC, ADV's is the only DVD release of the OVA. If there wasn't even a Japanese DVD release, it doesn't bode well for intact film elements.
