I don't think the game is involved AT ALL since the upgrade removed the tracking feature (or step counter whatever you may call it). They just want to link it to Pokémon Go and say "look!! The game caused somebody to die!!" Oh please. The game has nothing to do with anything.

What the hell? What the point of putting this one in the news? This 29-year old guy could just have been walking his dog or just anything. It seems you're trying to imply that Pokémon Go saved a life here. Not the case. |

They're just trying to be the very best and catch them all.
It's just an occupational hazard, no big deal. |

It would seem like a lot of news sites will post just about anything in relation to this game

What an unfortunate, senseless tragedy of a Pokémon GO player... Here's hoping the killer will be found and brought to justice.

When something reaches the level of largest U.S. app ever, you can't blame news outlets for wanting a piece of that exposure. I-it's not like your clicks are monetized or anything baka!
> Walking long and far in places you've never walked before will lead you to encounter things you don't often see. >> Pokemon GO impels people to walk long and far into places they usually don't go. Conclusion: Pokemon GO disrupts The System. |

That's what the article I read last night believed, as well. He and his friend had noticed someone watching them, and then, without warning, he was shot in the back. If ANN's article that there were other groups of people playing the game is accurate, why shoot just one person playing the game? It sounds more like the assailant had a beef with the victim, or it's a case of mistaken identity (even worse). That he was playing the game was incidental. The girl who was hit was almost a month ago, and was discussed in other threads for other articles, it's old news. The Philippines one was at least new and interesting, and directly related to the game (the man may not have been found without the game). But yeah, I'm getting a little tired of "something happened while someone was playing Pokemon Go" articles. |

Damn. I hardly knew you, Calvin. I'm glad he was still playing baseball, following his dreams at least. I sat next to this guy in 7th grade. He changed me and one of my friends a lot that year. I mean for the better. He was just a really easy person to talk to. I don't blame pokemon GO. I blame the asshole who shot up a Poke Stop. RIP Calvin. I'll never forget you.

If anyone wants to donate, this is how. I have not spoken to Calvin in a few years, but this is a huge loss for his family. Please help them out. |

We live in a age of smart phones and dumb people. It's the games fault as much and even more the people that play it.
People are so engrossed with their phones checking their email, social media, texting etc this game is just another distraction adding to the problem when people aren't being responsible. I'm not saying ban the game or get rid of it but people who want to play it need to be more situationally aware of their surroundings. Playing at night in a bad neighborhood and wondering why something bad happens just doesn't make sense. It's sad he lost his life. Add this to all the other incidents the man in the Philippines was probably playing so long and with the humidity and all that walking plus not drinking enough fluids took it's toll. Or like the many others the one guy who was driving and hit a parked Police car. Then their was that dumb broad who got a black eye when her phone fell off the ceiling fan because apparently swinging the phone hatches a Pokemon egg or something. I personally saw some idiot nearly get his ass kicked inside a crowed mall food court line, playing the game. Walking all over the place and bumping into people without a care in the world until he ran into a guy who had enough, the little prick nearly peed his pants and finally put the stupid phone away. |

Reminds me of how there was a wildfire spreading near where I live, and the local news radio repeatedly talked about a matchmaking app designed to work with Pokémon GO. (You know, because a 40,000-acre wildfire within a metropolitan area where millions of people live is less important than people looking for dates via Pokémon GO.) The station seems to have learned their lesson though, as today, the news was dominated by talks of the fire over near Lake Arrowhead in San Bernardino County.
It is possible that this guy was shot simply for being in the wrong place at the wring time. That is, while I'd say it's more likely he was shot because he happened to be there or because of a personal grudge, there is a chance the shooter hates the idea of Pokémon GO being so popular with young adults and was looking for someone to shoot, and this guy was the first person he saw playing the game. When the TCG was new, I was in middle school. There were so many fights that broke out, about equally between kids trying to steal Charizards and Chanseys from each other and between kids who got frustrated everyone around them was enjoying something so "babyish" ("kiddy" is not extreme enough, as they know they are kids) that they wanted to take it out on someone they knew owned Pokémon cards.
I think you got that backwards. The man vomiting blood was not said to be doing anything in particular at the time, and the person playing Pokémon GO was the one who assisted him and called for emergency help because he was nearby. |
