Why must such good talent die so young?

his driveway was steep and he had a security fence. it sounds like what happened was he got out of his car to either check his mail quick or open the fence (or both), but he left the car in neutral and it rolled, pinning him to his mailbox pillar. the steepness of the driveway could have made it so he couldn't easily stop it or push it away.

I was going to suggest the same thing. He probably had it in neutral by mistake and not in park and didn't realize it. Going by the info in the article it seems like just a very sad and unexpected accident. A real shame. Beyond being Chekov really liked him in the Odd Thomas live action movie as Odd.

The car that had killed him was offered a voluntary recall in April or something for a fault that would make it seem as if the car was in park but was actually in neutral. It was most likely not his mistake, but the car itself that was at fault.

Odd Thomas is a great fantasy horror comedy film, go watch it, should still be on netflix.

I have to say I was in complete shock when I saw the news after I woke up today. I didn't know he had a role in an anime film but still the same nice to see ANN pay their respects for this young and aspiring actor. Gone too soon, but in good company with Gene and Majel Roddenberry, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, and Leonard Nimoy. RIP Young Pavel Chekov.

I was absolutely in shock when I read how he was found so I wondered what could have happened. Omg, poor man. This is incredibly tragic for both him who suffered such a horrible death and his friends for having to see him like that. Jesus, please give their souls peace; I can't imagine...

Terribly sad that Anton Yelchin died so young. He was an awesome actor. R.I.P.

Not the first time folks put their vehicle in neutral on a slope only to get the it rolled down on them... And probably not the last, either.
