Won't be an anime adaptation... right? Since they'd need Zaregoto first of all, at least, I suppose (well, it's possible, but if so, I wonder why wouldn't they start with the original series first).

Apparently the code lists Aniplex/Shaft/Nisio Project, so seems like it'll be an anime, which is amazing news. So excited for the official confirmation. Hope they get the Monogatari series staff involved again (most probably will).

I'm interested, though I never really liked her character from Zaregoto.

Really? Nice, then.
Hopefully it'll succeed so that the other titles from the same universe (Zaregoto and Ningen series) anime adaptation will follow.
Not much of a fan of Aikawa too, still excited nonetheless

Specifically, line 9 of the source code. I too am inclined to believe it is an anime announcement.

God, I sure hope it's an anime. I've been interested in the Zaregoto novels for years, so if this leads to an adaptation of them, that would be most excellent.

Anybody actually read the Zaregoto books? Any good? My only frame of reference for NisiOisiN's writing is that Death Note novel, Bakemonogatari, and Katanagatari (which I only watched a little of and didn't like as much).

I haven't read them myself, but I know someone who has, albeit in Japanese, and they loved them to death. They are also a big fan of his other work in general though, including Katanagatari and Medaka Box.
I would have read them by now if I could find an English translation somewhere. All of the publishers I've spoken with haven't been too thrilled with the idea of localizing it unfortunately.

I read all of the Zaregoto books, and I've read most of the Monogatari books too (all in Japanese). Zaregoto is less consistent than Monogatari. Some of the books were great, and a few were incredible, but some were pretty bloated (book 6 in particular), and the epilogue for the series was really bad. I think that an anime adaptation could fix some of these problems and end up really great, though it probably won't change the ending. I'm definitely looking forward to it though. Wonder how much of the series they'll cover if that's what this is...

I've read the first two volumes officially translated and three more volumes translated by fans. I found at least three of the volumes I read to be absolutely great, one just okay, and one kind of terrible (in its defense the translation was incredibly subpar for it too).
I really like Ii and Kunagisa, but kind of dislike Aikawa and Zerozaki. Other characters can be pretty interesting (Green Green) or very one-note (the friend(s) from college).
It's good if you like Nisio's style, imo.

Heh, Aikawa Jun and Zerozaki Hitoshiki are probably the two most popular characters in Japan. But they're both walking a fine line between awesome charismatic crazy and just horrible people crazy, so a translation that doesn't find that line could really tip things.
I really dig the series, but it's always in spite of the mystery, and a bunch of the novels have lengthy passages discussing the actual case that just die on the page.
But good direction can really help with that, as The Perfect Insider proved.

I just felt like the both of them never had much chemistry with the MC, but the story felt otherwise and every conversation they had dragged for pages and never went anywhere.
I agree about the mystery thing: it was never a part I even paid much attention to, as I often plain don't care about any mystery. It's usually resolved by the end in the most "let me explain what happened" way anyway, and those parts also dragged a little.

It said Information Released. I think the countdown timer was based on your system time but the designer only took into account Japanese time so for the rest of us the counter ran out way early and the site broke.
