Mighty big shelves there (though the quality won't show close ups of the title names, since its too blurry), but yeah, cool stuff nonetheless.

And yeah, score another one for Lupin series continuation...X3

I really enjoyed Jigen's Gravestone the first time I saw it, but the more I watch it, the less actual substance it seems to have. It looks very good, and it has some of my favourite scenes in the entire franchise, but beyond that it's pretty forgettable. A lot of people have said that for an entry with Jigen's name in the title, it doesn't say anything new or interesting about him, and I've got to agree with that. Still, I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on the Blu-Ray. More Lupin is always good.

So Jigen's Gravestone doesn't use the same dub cast as The Woman Called Fujiko Mine (excluding Epcar reprising Zenigata)? How strange.

While I enjoyed this and bought the Blu-Ray, I found the dub disappointing. Why couldn't they have at least tried to bring back together the Season 2 TV dub cast? I did notice Richard Epcar as Zenigata (as was done in the Fujiko Mine dub), but to me he will always be Jigen.

I have yet to see this movie, but I bought the Blu-ray based on Takeshi Koike's involvement and how much I already love The Woman Called Fujiko Mine. I much prefer this darker take on Lupin, so this sounds like it'll be right down my alley. I was a little worried that Koike wasn't going to have the money he needed to make this movie look good, but that doesn't seem to be an issue here, thankfully. Really looking forward to watching it!

Style-over-substance though it may be (what sort of substance were you expecting from Lupin III?), Jigen's Gravestone is most of what I'm looking for in a Lupin feature, the grimy, dangerous, sort of mean-spirited, flippant, and violent cat-and-mouse game. I'd like to see Koike do more of these features, even if they're just 51 minutes like this was, that continue the Fujiko Mine TV series continuity. This one seems to leave off sometime before Secret/Mystery of Mamo, considering spoiler[Mamo's cameo at the end.]

For those concerned about the English dub, while it isn't great, it's not any worse than most efforts for the franchise, and is indeed probably better than a lot of them. But take heart, the newest Lupin III TV series, Part IV, will have most of the Part II (Red Jacket) cast, including Tony Oliver as Lupin and Richard Epcar as Jigen.

Wait - we have confirmation about the Blue Jacket series? It's coming to Blu/DVD? Details, man!

We don't know much except that Richard Epcar & co. have confirmed that they are already working/have already worked on a dub for Part IV.

Richard Epcar confirmed the cast a while back on Twitter.

We need this to happen.

I really want to hear them in these roles again and the bunch I've seen so far of the new series was a lot of fun and cool so it'd be a great time to do it. It was also gorgeous taking on some of this Koike art style of this and the Fujiko series while making it more vibrant to fit with the turn back the usual tone.
spoiler[And we need Michelle Ruff once again back as Fujiko too.]

Yea, just to be forewarned, it IS a Lupin/Jigen story primarily (I suppose the title would tip you off). So if what you liked about The Woman Called Fujiko Mine was all the Fujiko parts and complex characterization... that's not here. Jigen's Gravestone actually doesn't seem to have a clue what to do with Fujiko's character, so it dumps her into this weird creepy violent subplot and that's about it. I was disappointed by it. It otherwise works fine as a stand alone Lupin story, just with a bit more violence than usual.

The 2015 TV series does a much better job with ALL the characters, so you have that to look forward to (if you haven't watched it already).
