I guess that is one way to salvage a project... assuming it doesn't get canned by Konami AGAIN.

sorry mr.Hayter but Konami won't be making games regardless, they're all about Pachinko machines now.

Hayter isn't in 5 because well, spoilers. He obviously didn't play it.

I'm not sure I see the point. Konami squashed the last Metal Gear project they did, so why try another?

That would confirm he asked too much or was ejected then. Sweet. I haven't played it in Japanese.

if money were really the issue, they wouldn't have replaced him for an expensive celebrity, would they?Kojima simply wanted a famous actor to play the lead no matter what and Hayter himself has said that Kojima has been trying to replace him since MGS3.
That's not the first time Kojima did this.In the Japanese version of MGS4 he got famous film director Shinya Tsukamoto to voice Vamp instead of having Ryotaro Okiayu reprising the character from MGS2.

I wouldn't even bet on Konami developing a new Metal Gear Solid game ever, since they're so massively invested in the pachinko market. Gaming is simply an afterthought to them nowadays.

MGSIV was supposed to be the last one, MGR was fine as it gave Raidens story a conclusion. So them not making anymore game, at least from a narrative point is a good thing.

That doesn't quite hold truck, considering Ground Zeroes.
Also, you're right, Hayter hasn't played V, I read that he said that, and wouldn't be surprised as he's been super pissy over this whole thing.

If somebody had replaced me in a role I loved playing, without even so much as by your leave, I think I'd be too upset to play the game too...
If Hayter's comments are true, they made me feel significantly less bad for the way Konami treated Kojima. I mean, Konami were only treating him in ways similar to his treatment of his own staff.
