Oh sweet, looking forward to this. There was a hint about this getting a TV anime not so long ago but I'm glad to see it come true!

Holy crap, that looks adorable! I hope they get a good child voice actor. The lack of a sequel to Barakamon gave me a serious itch that anything has yet to scratch.

Hm... I wonder if for some people the disgust towards (what I'm assuming will be) a teacher/student romance will cancel out the "d'aaaawww" factor of cute child raising.

I don't see it listed as a romance anywhere. Just comedy, seinen and SOL.

That's hilariously naïve; The girl's on the second cover. Even if it's not romantic, having your teenage opposite sex student in your kitchen outside of school hours is a bit on the iffy side or at least it should be. "Inappropriate" at the very least.
So I wasn't disgusted; I was however rolling my eyes after reading the description, immediately thinking "high school girl" and, lo and behold...
Fellow teacher, next door neighbor, we'll be having none of those, it's the... wait, it's Japan.... second wife material? So it'd be the same after all? I guess?
It could be adapted as cute... it's been done before... but I can't help but think "young man with a girl, young woman-ish creature, cooking up love in the kitchen" with that set up. Boy meets girl trumps teacher-with child- meets student.

Maybe, but with a set up like that and all authors' tendency to have leads hook up no matter what it's inevitable.

There's a romantic subplot in this, if that helps.

And that's pointlessly confrontational.

The setup certainly suggests there's going to be potentially uncomfortable teacher-student stuff, but from what I've read I haven't seen any. The girl does have a bit of a thing for the teacher but the teacher does not reciprocate, at least as far as I've read.

This sounds good. Maybe it'll be warm and slice of life like akachan to boku. And I'm cool with teacher/student romance but that may as well be my wishful thinking.

I'm cool with this being my personal Bunny Drop, where the anime is all platonic fluff and I can just ignore whatever romance does or does not happen later on. (I also can't recall seeing Kotori's dad anywhere, so...wishful thinking that it's the parents who hook up! )

Kugimi. Kugimiya Rie will voice the little girl, I feel it. Please let me be right.

This makes me incredibly happy; it's one of my favorite series and has also made me cry multiple times at the drop of a hat in a way nothing else I can think of has. It's so incredibly heartwarming and bittersweet.
As far as the romance stuff- she does like him, but as of right now he has no idea and I'd be very surprised if he reciprocated (the most I'd reasonably see happening is something post-graduation). The most it comes up is her feeling conflicted about liking him. It's not the focus at all.

Please no. 30-something year old women voicing kindergarteners is just grating.
Child voice actors, please.
