Republicans are just mad that the monster they accidentally created is their most popular guy and instead of owning up to it are trying to blame it on anime fans by equating us with 4chan weenies.

The last couple of tweets in the article are exactly how I feel upon reading this. Honestly, I'm confused how otaku, of all people, actually came up like that.

Trump is an embarrassment to the GOP. He's just out there to make us look bad, he actually said in 1998 that if he ran for president, he'd be a Republican, and he'd be out there to make them lose and never win an election again.

Well that was random, I never knew anime fans strongly supported Trump. I sure as hell don't.

The one Twitter post nailed it:
Quote: | Calling Trump supporters childless single men who masturbate to anime is offensive to childless single men who masturbate to anime. |
Exactly: You can accuse "otaku" of being horny, nacho-munching or basement-dwellers, but we are NOT the angry (for the Mods' sake, I hesitate to make pre-Nazi "beer hall" parallels here, although the comparisons are very real, very warranted and very scary) supporters who chant "USA!" every time Trump spins Muslim fear, and laugh protestors out of the room with "That guy looked fat--He's not going to get his snacks once he loses his Food Stamps!"
Leaving aside any in-fighting from Cruz or Jeb Bush supporters, some Republicans are starting to bristle at the "Mitt Romney strategy" that they should smile, go along with their embarrassing poll leader and spin every statement as a win, just so they can look like a fearsome, united party contender to the Democrats--Trump does rather test the limits of how much they can publicly put up with.
It's just sad that the other Republicans had to sink to a 90's cliche' to do it...If Trump used it, no surprise, but wow, hadn't heard that one in twenty years!

Yeah, I thought Sanders was the candidate of the younger generations...

Implying that "childless, single men, who masturbate to anime" is an insult.

As a childless, single woman who masturbates to anime, I'm quite insulted to see the GOP once again discrediting the importance of women voters.

I'm half tempted to vote for Trump just to make that guy's head spin, I have already been tempted to do so if it makes Larry Willmore throw a fit/get cancelled. I say all that as a hard left dem.

But I'm a 4chan weenie! Granted I'm asexual so I likely don't count, but still.

I don't care much for any of the current crop of politicians. To my knowledge the GOP hasn't had a coherent strategy in quite a few years, not that the Democrats have done a whole lot better.
As for Mr. Wilson, I would gently remind him that smearing any group of potential voters is not a very bright idea.

This is why I hesitate to tell people I like anime. Not all anime fans are
"otaku" : (

How much of an influence do otaku actually have in terms of voting power, such that he had to single them out here? As I see it, if they're eligible to vote, they have just as much influence and democratic power as anyone else. I see no reason for him to attack them, as if their votes matter any less than his.

Is this because of those "make anime great again" signs people have been (hopefully, ironically) using? Because it's hilarious if so.

Quote: | According to data published by The Washington Post, the Trump's strongest supporters are White non-Evangelical Christian male conservatives earning less than US$50,000 a year. |
False data. Everyone is trying to act like only white people will vote for Trump, and that's a lie. I've seen a lot of Hispanics and African Americans commenting on his Facebook page saying that they like him. Plus, I'm female, white, young, and one of the very rare Republican anime/manga fans out there that plan to vote for Trump. I'm not interested in the aging socialists the other side has to offer.
As for the otaku thing, I always hated the word. It makes us mature anime/manga fans look bad when a bunch of immature children act like weeaboos in public.
