As it's Trigger, I'm really looking forward to it. Glad to see Miwa Shirou doing some cool character designs, too.

I'm up in the air on this one. I want to have have faith in Trigger, but so far this premise just isn't selling me. I also haven't heard good things about Mari Okada.

Mari Okada when it comes to drama, she's one of the best there is and has an extremely successful record that includes NagiAsu, AnoHana, Hanasaku Iroha, Gosick, True Tears, Toradora!, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, Blast of Tempest and Selector Wixoss.. So I really don't know who you're hearing this from but I doubt they've watched much of her previous work.

What? Who are talking to? Mari Okada is one of the best character and drama writers in anime today. I know a couple of people who consider her stuff to be melodramatic, but their opinion mostly hinges on the fact they they hardly paid any attention to the one show of hers they watched, so the emotions didn't resonate with them.
Try Hanasaku Iroha and Anohana if you want to see examples of perfect character drama. Seriously. Both shows are basically perfect.

Okada still needs to redeem herself, to me, from her involvement in M3: The Dark Metal.
On another note, I had not realised that some characters have markings on the wrists...almost as if they've cut themselves...

Yeah, really not sure what went wrong with that one, but I think she has already redeemed herself with Iron-Blooded Orphans and Anthem of the Heart, personally.

Good catch. That is interesting. Hmmm...

While I like the fact that this is an original anime, I think they might not be pulling as many potential viewers with this character design. I say this because it looks rather childish/cutesy to me.

I honestly don't like everything Mari Okada does (I actually disliked Nagi No Asukara alot, especially the second half) but she has done somethings I... remember liking ? (It's been a while since I've seen Toradora and a few others.)
Then there's Trigger which has a bunch of artists and animators I like but haven't really done anything that's really wowed me.
This is basically two unpredictable elements mashed into each other, which should be exciting, but unpredictable doesn't always mean good.

I think it looks pretty similar to Kill La Kill personally. And that was certainly popular. It has a weird dark/edginess to it, which contrasts nicely with some of the cuter characteristics. I like it a lot.

As I've yet to see Anthem, and Gundam doesn't interest me, I'm still waiting for something to wash M3 away. I have faith that Anthem will, as the reviews do make it sound like something I'd really enjoy.
On the wrists, I kind of hope that they are just markings, and not that every character has tried suicide. The premise for this series does open itself to the melodramatic, which can be extremely hit or miss with me.
