Shouldn't that be a 3-way tie for Third place (not Fifth)?

Ms. Uchida really showed her range in Charlotte, plus she does Yui's sister Mari-chan in Yuruyuri! Still glad to see one of my favorites "Kana-chan" still hanging in there, though I wonder where they got that photo? She looks troubled....

I did not realize just how much of my money went into anime this year until that poll.

Yay!! Maaya Uchida, my currently favorite seiyuu, was the most prolific in 2015.
I bought about 15 anime series, but I also bought several movies, specials/OVA's and a couple of imports. We continued to have a bonanza of anime discs this year. |

A quick count shows 82 individual purchases. A couple of those were movies and there were a couple of series with multiple parts such as Ranma 1/2 and the Monogatari series. So about 70 series.

I bought waaayyy too much anime this year. I'll have to cut back significantly this coming year unless I get a promotion or something. This Rightstuf Christmas sale has been pretty brutal to my wallet.
![]() On the topic of Seiyuu. I have the hardest time remember their names, for some reason. I can remember their characters more often, but I can't keep that info stored in my brain for some reason. Yui Ogura, Sawashiro, Shimoda, Hanazawa, Kugimiya, and Horie are the only ones that I ever remember, and that's only because I see their names pretty regularly. With the exception of Shimoda. I'm just currently watching Idolm@ster and I refuse to forget the name of Ami and Mami's VA! ![]() |

The funny thing is that more than a third of Ayane Sakura roles in this year she had only in one series - KanColle, where four of her eight characters in anime were in the main cast.

Somewhere in the ballpark of just ten anime television series. I almost bought as much movies and OVAs this year. I used to buy a lot more but I've been spending more money on manga lately.

I must be out of touch with Japanese voice actors, because I don't know any of those without the list of credits. If you told me "Kotono Mitsuishi", I'd be able to name at least six roles off the bat. But I guess, in a way, this is good, because it means more roles are going to people who aren't necessarily Aya Hirano or Rie Kugimiya, so the talent pool is widening.

ANN authoring software strikes again. Also, even though the three above her are tied for 3rd, isn't she still 6th? |

Huh, kinda surprised that Kikuko Inoue didn't make the list. Perhaps she's slowed down the amount of recent roles she's been taking.

If most roles go to Kana Hanazawa or Maaya Uchida, then that just means the talent pool is narrowing in a different direction. |

Er... With all due respect, I think you're kinda late for about 5-6 years (at least). |

Rie Kugimiya still played 12 characters this year (counting her appearance as "herself" in Sore ga Seiyuu), so it's not like she's hurting for work! Aya Hirano only had one role this year, though, for Nagato Yuki-chan. I do agree with you that it's exciting to see outstanding new young voices emerge. The one I'm keeping my eye on right now is Tomoyo Kurosawa. She's still very young, only 19, but she's got a lot of talent and a beautiful singing voice. I first noticed her when she played Itsuki in Yuki Yuna last year, but she absolutely killed it as Kumiko in Euphonium this year, just a fantastic job bringing that character to life. She only had four characters this year (the others were Miria in Cinderella Girls and two supporting roles in Seraph of the End), but I'm expecting to see a lot more of her in the future as she gets more experience. She has one announced role in 2016 so far, for the series Active Raid. |
