Not a huge surprise given the timeslot. The bigger surprise is probably that it took this long to confirm this.

Along with previous Season's Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace, this now makes two consecutive mystery shows that are 11-episode long.

Is this becoming a standard for a series that focuses on mystery to have 11 episodes now?

Noitamina shows are normally 11 or 12 episodes long. It's how that timeslot works. Both Laplace and Perfect Insider are Noitamina shows

It's the standard for noitaminA shows to be 11 eps long (per cour), though there are exceptions.

No, it's what blackiris said. Both shows aired/are airing on Fuji TV's noitaminA programming block, and 11 episodes is the standard-length season for that timeslot. Ping Pong, Terror in Resonance, Silver Spoon, Bunny Drop, and Anohana are some other examples of 11-episode shows that aired in that block.

Why does this block often have 11 instead of 12 episodes?

I'm fine with 11 eps. That's standard for NoitaminA. I think the shorter episode count makes it more rewatchable.
