the new school year is coming up and the kiddies are gonna need a new fad. I saw at Otakon Funimation had Yu Yu Hakusho trading cards. I was thinking maybe this will be the next big thing.
here is the site http://www.yuyuhakushotcg.com I didn't see anything about it other that there is one. I don't know how it plays or anything. but maybe this could be it. anyone have anything to say about it or the fad potential? |

I don't know how popular it'll be, but I'm a card otaku, and I'll probably waste much of my money on this too I don't know why I love playing cards so much...I'm pathetic, and I'm god-damn proud!

I'm going to say the next big thing is going to be Dual Masters. It's a relativly new game in japan that is currently outselling Yugioh. There isn't an anime to back it, but it's already been picked up by Wizards of the Coast (which is owned by Hasbro). There is a manga, but it doesn't seem like they'll be releasing it over here, instead Hasbro has Dreamwave making an all new comic for it. Go figure.
The game is actually a enat concept where you collect the cards and have the option of doing interactive battles on TV using a special device. What makes this neat is that where on Yugioh the show has the battles happening in front of them, but in real life they're just cards, with Dual Masters you actually get to see your battles take place. great concept I think. marketed right this could really take off in North America. There's also Bandai's Jagun Fighters, an action figure based battle game where you use spinners to decide attacks and strength. Check out the website at http://jagunfighters.com/ for more info there. Hero Clicks have been really taking off well, should be interesting to see how those do this year. It doesn't have the makes of a school phenomenom, but they're popular enough to be noticed. Lots of stuff abound, I remember when i was a kid the big card game was Uno. Emerje |

I think Go will be the next big thing based on the decision to run it in Shonnen Jump. That will be nice, and let me make kids cry with my 1337 Go skills.

Dual Masters sounds interesting, and since WOTC picked it up it has a decnet chance of doing well here in the states. Considering that they developed the CCG (Colectable Card Game) with Magic then hit it big again with Pokemon they have a decent track record. Also, with Hasbro footing the bill in the end there definately will be a large TV commercial campaign.

I'm not sure what's the next big thing, but I heard it'll be for a show call "Power Stone". Not sure if I got the name right either. ^^;

Heh Heh... I remember those too... I can't believe how many I used to have... Mine I either threw away or packed away and sent to storage... But I still find them lying around every once in awhile... Huh... My siblings are still into the whole Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh thing... I stopped at pokemon... Probably lost over $200 on those things just to see them go out like birthday candles... And I got stuck with useless cards (that used to be rare... Some of 'em could've been worth $50 by themselves...) that I couldn't sell for a dime... So when Yu-Gi-Oh came around and my cousin tried getting me into the cards I wanted nothing to do with them... Whatever new fad does come out my cousin and my siblings will be all over it... As for me... I've given up on the whole card business... Think I'll stick to a regular 52 card deck of Diamonds, Hearts, Clubs, and Spades... |

Except... Hasn't Power Stone been out in the US for about two years now, and gotten almost zero attention, even within the anime community? |

If TokyoPop was smarter than they have proven themselves to be, then that Initial D card game would stand a chance...
Unfortunatly Tokyopop turned a finly tuned piece of anime racing history into a bad "Fast and the Furious" wannabe, Low budget style!!!!! |
