I knew it was coming it had to. Key has been playing around for too long to not announce Rewrite.

Best thing to wake up to in a long time.
I really really pray this works well. Rewrite's VN was freaking amazing (though I found Chihaya's route hilariously, but weak). This could work soooo well if done properly though. Absolutely my favorite OST from KEY as well, as a whole. So excited. |

FINALLY!!! My wait for many years is finally complete and I hope 8-bit can make Rewrite a great adaptation like Grisaia no Rakuen.

YES! I can wear my Shizuru cosplay again and actually be recognized this time!!
 But in all seriousness, Rewrite has a story that I always thought would make a perfect anime so I'm really excited about this. Though, (and I'm trying to be as spoiler-free as possible) it's a story that's really dependent on it's visual novel format... so it'll be interesting to see how they handle the different routes.
Yep, Maeda didn't write any of the scenarios, though honestly I think it suffers for it. It still tries pretty hard to stick to Maeda's "nakige" format but most of the routes just don't have the emotional punch Maeda's stories did. (To compare, Maeda only wrote the Rin route and Refrain of Little Busters!... and for some strange reason most people seem to find the Refrain anime significantly better than the first season of LB) However, Ryukishi07 of Higurashi/Umineko fame wrote one of the routes in Rewrite, so that's something to get excited about. I've been hoping this was coming for a long time. It's nice to know that it's finally happening. I don't know much about 8 bit so I was hoping for KyoAni. But here's hoping it's as good as the VN. Which I have but still haven't played yet...

Though I really hope this won't be as rushed as Grisaia no Rakuen was... Stopped watching mid-season because things felt really off in the pacing department. |

I like 8-bit's visuals, but having any Grisaia anime staff on board here is a bad thing. Key VN stories work poorly when rushed, as demonstrated by those Toei movies. I guess we'll have to wait and see how big the episode order is. Rewrite's a pretty big game, so two cours might not even work, let alone one.

I wonder how well this would be adapted. I personally have never seen the Clannad and Little Busters anime. How did they adapt the various routes?

This was only really true in the anime from what I've seen. My opinion it on was that season 1 was rushed like hell and they changed the oddest things. Season 2 was a near perfect copy of the VN. I have to agree with Stark700 on his worries on 8-bit. They haven't really impressed me, EVER. This is a very precious project for them to be on, to me. I will hate them forever if they mess it up. My favorite routes of Rewrite were Shizuru, Kotori, and Terra. Ryukishi07 did Lucia's which I felt was by far the weakest after Chihaya's. |

He was also consulted with by the main writer, which may have had a signifiant impact....or none at all. Either way, the main story was freaking amazing. encrypted12345, Clannad is one of the most loved animes ever, so it was done really well. Little Busters on the other hand, was pretty horrid until Season 2. It really depends on how it's handled by the Studio. Right now, I still would only trust Kyoto Animation but KEY seems to enjoy tossing their products to studios not known for high quality... AsherFischell, I fully agree. I think it would need like 4 or 5 episodes per girl/route, maybe 6. They're not short routes lol. So 20+ episodes for that, then 1-2 for Moon..and probably another 12 or so for TERRA. I really hope they don't ruin this by rushing it....They did give Little Busters 3 cours though. |
