I am curious as to why they will have a shorter version with a different ending than the original. To me, that sounds almost like censorship. To give the fans the full love for the movie, I think that they should have this and the original endings.
It is interesting that this uses the Sentai FIlmworks but isn't a Sentai license itself.

It says in the article that the original Japanese version is on one disc and the shorter International version is on a second disc.
At least read the article before complaining about censorship. Yeesh.

Here in the EU too. I've seen a 3D/Normal Blu-ray bundle release of this film lying around in big-name stores and for some reason it's really cheap (12 bucks).

Zac, thank you for (sarcasm not being used here) pointing what I should have done. Still though, even though both versions are included, I am curious as to why the dubbed version is shorter.

If it's shorter and has a different ending, I think I'll stick to the Netflix version. It's in English and HD and that is all I need.

Oh no, not Twilight Time. They usually produce good products, but they also have only a strict limit of 3,000 copies (sometimes 5,000 if you're lucky) and sell them exclusively through Screen Archives, where you usually have to pay full MSRP, and quickly to make sure you get your copy (sometimes a pre-order is required). I own their releases of The Blob and Fright Night (their newer edition), and it was a pain in the ass to order them before all 5k were gone. I'd love to own John Carpenter's Christine, and Tom Savini's Night of the Living Dead on Blu-ray, but I didn't know about their releases until it was too late. Now I'm forced to go on ebay and Amazon Marketplace and pray for a used copy at a decent-ish price. Thank god Sony just got Christine back, but I'm still screwed for NOTLD.

The movie is pretty fun to watch though the ending was ok because Harlock character didn't seem to act like himself. Overall it's worth the purchase

The movie wasn't awful, but watching it once on Netflix is plenty for me. I mean I don't actually have a 3D tv, but even if I did, this isn't good enough for me to rewatch while wearing 3D glasses.
I'm pretty sure I remember the subtitles on Netflix had some errors, wonder if they'll have actually fixed them because I'm guessing Netflix doesn't actually make their own.

Yeah.
It was decent and if I was going to buy I was hoping for a blu-ray with the dub and sub to atleast buy for the incredible visuals so I passed on the initial DVD release. With them also including the 3D too I may indeed buy it if I catch them putting it up when they do.
