So...will this be another of those "having romance with an underage person is fine it the adult is the girl" type of series?

Well, the Japanese age of consent is 13, so I think I got this covered. If the boy is 18, they also have that covered.

I think this is TROYCA's first time that they are making an independent anime project/series.

@Sunny milk
Didn't know that was a trend, to be honest. That's...odd.
@Kadmos1
Legally, yes age of consent is fairly low. However, in practice most people seem to go with Tokyo in acknowledging 20-year-olds as "real" adults, or at least that was the trend the last time I bothered to look into this in depth. Don't know if that's still a thing or not, and to be fairly honest, I doubt it's given much weight at all in the manga industry when it comes to making up concepts. Rule of cool and all that.
As for the show itself, when they say "incidents with bones", do they mean like murder mysteries? Archaeological digsites? Foresnic science? What?

I don't think it matters who is the adult, other series have done it with the males being the adults too (see: Inu x Boku SS, heck, by the end of that series, eventhough they just started dating, she's already saying she'll have his kids).

yup there first series was Aldnoah with A-1. Looking forward to this. the new generation studios (Lerche, WIT studio, MAPPA) have set a really high standard for them to live up to. i'm more looking forward to how they handle it rather than how it is as an anime

Inari Kon Kon was technically the first, although they were credited under Production IMS for that show.

I think the age difference is smaller there...
And she's not a regular girl.

Who's not a regular girl? And the guy was like 23 in Inu, I mean, there's no problem with it, I have friends who started dating with those ages (younger girl) and they turned out fine.

I'm guessing that is the equivalent to a home-media release having a sale average of ~7,000 or so (correct me if I'm wrong).

The male lead, Tatewaki Shōtarō, is described as being a high-schooler, and unless some "super-genius that was skipping ahead" or something similar happened, that would place him at the 16-18 age range. The female lead, the aforementioned girlfriend, Kujō Sakurako, is described as being in her mid-20's, so the 24-26 (or so) age range. Couples with a 10-years-or-less gap between them is quite common. I can see something like that happening.

Aldnoah.Zero was co-produced by them and A-1 Pictures, so I'm interested to see how they'll perform without anyone 'holding their hands", as it were.

Very interesting premise, sounding like a quiet horror tale in the vein of something like Another or Shiki (as opposed to, say, Hellsing or BLOOD-C). Equally interesting is that this will be TROYCA's first real test as an animation studio, not only as their first solo effort, but also in doing something that (at least, by the plot) is not a broadly-appealing action-type show with flashy visuals. Ei Aoki first turned heads on such a show with Hourou Muskou/Wandering Son, so it really is only expected that his own studio would tackle a non-action title this soon.

He's not a regular guy either. And, they're not irregular solely based on being half demons. But, I'm pretty sure that in InuBoku, they establish their ages as 16 and 23 at the start of the series. Though, there's a lot more going on than what is revealed in the anime.
Also, I'd say the trope is more 'highschooler' dates an 'adult', rather than pinning genders to either role. Plenty out there where it's a younger female/older male.
As for this series, all I can think of is "Bones: The Animated Series".
I doubt that the romantic side of things will be a major focus in this one.

Based on the title, I think it's safe to say it's murder mystery.

Huh, interesting. I like that they're already together though, spare us the shoujo tropes of first love. I don't really have any problems with the age barrier, I mean it's not even that large of a gap in the first place. Now we have a problem if it were like a 50 year old and a 20.
