Who ever is a fan of this is beyond explanation. I just don't get how a 3D character with a terrible computer generated voice can have such a huge following.

you might as well question why people are fans of anything. Obviously, there's no amount of explaining that can make someone "understand" something if that person doesn't like it in the first place
Anyways, it's cool that they're carrying the ethos of fan-produced content over since that's what dominates the vocaloid market, but it seems pretty of insubstantial. Not sure how many would want to expose their faces like that either. On the other hand what would be really cool, and more like the vocaloid community, is if they hold contests for user produced songs or remixes and have virtual miku or other vocaloid characters perform those songs! |

The closer it gets to the event the worst my feelings are about it. I'm hoping positively, but my gut is betting the other horse.

I can understand anything as to why people are a fan of something. But, vocaloids are the only thing I can not grasp how anyone can like this. |

Oh hey, looks like Mohawk52 and Hannish Lightning are here. It's gotta be a Vocaloid topic.
I'm too cowardly to post a ten second video, but kudos to those that get featured. I'll not see you, as I will not be at the concert. Or Anime Expo in general. |

Except to me vocaloids doesn't sound human, it's robotic and unnatural. And that's the problem I have with them and don't get the huge following because vocaloids take away the most important aspect of music, the human element. Yeah I know a human composed the music, but that isn't what I am talking. Vocaloids are essentially synthesized voices and that's all. It would be like if instead of a hearing Robert Schumann's Traumerei being played by a person who've performed for years, it was instead played by a pair of mechanical arms that's been programmed to play the song. It isn't the same thing. |

Well the most important aspect of music is the music itself. Otherwise you can ask the same for any kind of electronic music, vocaloid or not (or the use of vocoders in other music) particularly for sounds that don't have an acoustic equivalent. In fact, to simplify, lets cut out the vocals and just focus on instrumental music. Whether some notes are played by a computer or synth via midi or a human player, it's the same notes regardless. In fact considering classical or orchestral music, the human players themselves are just like robots. That's they're role, they are to play exactly as told. No deviations, no personal embellishments.

Music can't be expressed without the performer. And humans aren't robots thus they don't play it like robots. If you can't hear the difference between a human performer and a song played by a robot than I feel sorry for you.

That was turrible. Like I said before vocaloids voices are very robotic to me I could even hear it when the duet it started. The original is a lot smoother.

they can be mixed in any combination, or used individually for different results. soft sweet solid Vivid dark light, not many composers use this one as it sounds too close to the original. all together I'll just add that if it wasn't for vocaloids none of us, including you, would ever have heard any of these songs. Whether that's a good thing, or bad I'll leave to your own discretion. |
