You know the drill people.
https://www.livechart.me/summer-2015/tv http://anichart.net/summer ----------------------------------------------------------- For me... Snow White with the Red Hair -I'm not much of a Shoujo fan but I'm more amenable when its something like this, a period/fantasy show. It's Bones and Masahiro Ando, who is really great, is directing. Sounds great. Gangsta. -I think this is a pretty well regarded manga from what I've heard. Manglobe doesn't really have the reputation they might have half a decade ago but you could do a whole lot worse. Same goes for director Shuko Murase. His works tend to be a bit dry but he has an awfully nice visual style. This could certainly be an excellent show. Game of Laplace -Interesting source material. I can't speak to its quality firsthand but I hope it is at least be respectable given it's apparent pedigree as a classic by a pretty renowned author. As for the staff, by and large, Makoto Uezu's (and by extension Seiji Kishi's) body of work consists of a lot of shlock and a lot of bad, faithful to a fault game adaptations. But the former's work on Heroic Legend of Arslan has redeemed him somewhat in my book. I have hope they'll at least live up to the source material. The NoitaminA name still actually means something to me as well, at least when the show looks like something worthwhile. Not a lot, but something. Ushio & Tora -So this is an odd choice for a modern adaptation, but not necessarily a bad one. I'm always up for something vintage. MAPPA does, if nothing else, consistently pretty work. And the director is Satoshi Nishimura, of Trigun fame. Granted, he doesn't really have much of a body of work outside of that but you could do far worse. Certainly worth checking out. God Eater -It's a videogame adaptation so...yeah. Not really thinking this will be any better that a simple action show but that's okay. It's Ufotable so that's something at least in terms of production values and the art style in the trailer has a certain unique look. Also the director did Gyo: Tokyo Fish Attack so...that's unique at least? Gatchaman Crowds Insight -Man, the first season of this was sure a glorious mess. Plenty of interesting ideas but a mountain of flaws too. I'll probably check out a second season though. It's at least worth that. Dragonball Super -Why not? I mean, the last DBZ sequel sucked and even DBZ itself could probably have ended much sooner than it did. But...eh. Might as well check it out anyway. |

That time again, huh?
There will likely be some great series next season, but at this moment in time the only show I'm truly excited about is Non Non Biyori 2. First season was superb, I'm so amped for the second. |

Well, I definitely plan to check out "Dragon Ball Super" and "Ushio and Tora." Will plan on sticking with "Heroic Legend of Arlsan" and "Kyoukai no Rinne" too. Everything else is either a definite "no" or an unknown. But there're a lot of "unknowns," so I'm sure there'll be another gem or two in all that somewhere.

Future anime picks, one of my specialties, I guess. I've never been disappointed by my early picks.
Everyday Life With Monster Girls My top pick of the season and with that, there goes my credibility. Hold on, I've read the manga and the series is a lot of fun. It's exactly not what it sounds like as it's more like someone looked at mythology and thought "People are really sick. Hmm. How would a centaur/lamia/harpy/mermaid actually reproduce anyway?" and ran with it. My favorite group has got to be the Mons squad though and with Yu Kobayashi as part time leader and full time figurative troll Smith, there's going to be some great entertainment. Totally pervy though, never think otherwise. Gatchaman Crowds Insight Superheroes with social commentary. Well, that was the first series but I expect more of the same. More Hajime? I'm absolutely in with that but I like the rest of the cast too. Working!!! Season 3 so if you like season 1 and 2 then 3. There should be some movement on some certain fronts... Maybe even a conclusion. This show's always exceeded my expectations somehow. Gakkou Gurashi Zombie survival horror, meet "four girl ensemble comedy". Now play nice! Well, there goes my interest for Non Non Biyori. Besides, that series was 90% dependent on Renge so there's not much they could offer that we didn't already get in the first season. The title is even "Non Non Biyori Repeat"? Guess they already knew that then. And my pick for Light Novel Adaptation because there always has to be one because there's always so many of them: Brave of the Six Flowers. I'm a little worried with the Book of Bantorra connection but as long as it doesn't pull an Agame ga Kill... or Book of Bantorra... approach to "character sustainability", it should be good. It's from the guy who did MAOYU and Spice and Wolf for crying out loud so don't ruin your own premise. Anime original shot in the dark: Classroom Crisis. It just seems like the type of thing I'd watch, no questions asked. And it's the type of genre that could do with less incomplete adaptations and more anime originals. |

Ah summer line up~ Best time for me to get a sunburn while marathoning last years anime. There's alot to offer this season but, like always, I will keep an open mind until ep 3/4.
Past season: Kyoukai no Rinne (Brains Base), Ore Monogatari!! (Madhouse), and Arslan Senki (Liden Films) Sequels/shorts: Junjou Romantica 3 (Studio DEEN) - Already seen/own seasons 1 & 2 so might as well keep going. My only concern is if Nozomi's licensing rights are still in effect or if Crunchyroll can secure the streaming rights. Makura no Danshi (Assez Finaud Fabric & feel.) - My guess is that this will be a 5 min short series since the premise is about bishonen lulling listeners to sleep. Hetalia: The World Twinkle (Studio DEEN) - Already seen seasons 1-5 so might as well keep going. Sailor Moon Crystal 2 (Toei) - Crappy lazy animation aside, I really, REALLY want to see who voices Sailors Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and hopefully the Starlights. New/original material (high to low priority): Gangsta. (Manglobe) - Love the character designs and the premise of gangsters and street violence sounds like my cup of tea. Akagami no Shirayuki-hime (BONES) - This is the only BONES production for the summer therefore I must watch it. I'm curious how this take on Snow White will play out. Ushio to Tora (MAPPA) - Never read the manga but I need some retro shounen adventure to fulfill my HxH and JBA quota. I need to finish Rage of Bahamut first. Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou (Lerche) - So, there's an artist on Tumblr who draws monster porn and it's great. Saw Circumstances of my Bathtub about sea monster dudes and I loved it. I read the hentai version of Monster Musume and...I like it. So, clearly monster guys/girls are my new fetish. Gakkou Gurashi! (Lerche) - There's a lot of Lerche productions this summer but this sounds too weird to pass. Not sure how they will incorporate generic slice of life with spoiler[zombie apocalypse] but I have to know. Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace (Lerche) - Even though Noitamina is no longer a haven for Josei fans, I like trying out anything horror/mystery related. Charlotte (P.A. Works) - It's based on a Key visual novel which should turn me off but the art & series directors worked on Nagi no Asukara so I'll try it. Kangoku Gakuen (J.C Staff) - Read few chapters of the manga and, for some reason, I'm curious just how absurd this show will get. Probably won't finish it. God Eater (ufotable), Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakeri (Passione) and Aoharu x Kikanjuu (Brains Base) - The first 3 episodes will determine if these are worth watching. |

That time of the year has come and hopefully won't be half the doozie that spring turned out to be.
Definitely watching: Sequels: Gatchaman Crowds Insight, Durarara!! Ten, Junjou Romantica 3 (although I feel heavily ugh towards it). Not many sequels this season Akagami no Shirayuki-hime: It's BONES for whom I have an almost unshakable faith (even if I dropped Show by Rock), and I'm certainly interested in the plot. If it's half as good as Yona I'll be happy. Chaos Dragon: I have a feeling this will be awful and disappointing, but I'll have a little faith in Urobuchi and Narita, although I'm not quite digging the character designs, I still have some sliver of hope that it'll be closer to Rage of Bahamut Gangsta: Looks like it has a lot of potential for action illegal stuff with adult characters and fun. It sounds a lot like Black Lagoon and it really has potential to be great High Interest God Eater: Another one with huge chances of being awful but for some reason I'm still very interested in it. At least we have the guarantee of ufotable budget so even if it's terrible it'll still look pretty great. Rokka no Yuusha: I really like the character designs. It sounds pretty generic, but I still want to see how it'll turn out. We have a lot of fantasies for this season, hopefully half of them will be worth following Will check out Joukamichi no Dandelion: Pretty much interested because I like groups of people with superpowers. I don't have great expectations, but hopefully it'll be good enough. Overlord: I literally have no reason to be interested in it other than the character design, there's something that really works for me, even if the key visual looks like promo for a hentai Ushio to Tora: Well it's MAPPA, and although they fell a little from grace with Punchline, I think this one has a better chance of bringing out more of their great stuff. The last time I jumped into a Mappa show without knowing shit of what it was about, it turned out to be Garo and Bahamut and both of them were great so I hope this one comes out good. Makura no Danshi: It sounds so weird and the character design looks very pretty, I must chek it out. May check out (if it gets good reviews) Aoharu x Kikanjuu: I like the character designs, but the story sounds kind of confusing. Maybe I'll check out the first episode to see for myself Charlotte: Sounds like a poor man's Haruhi, but who knows, sometimes PA Works really brings out real diamonds. Maybe if I hear good things about it. Game of Laplace. For some reason, the Key Visual is reminding me of Pupa and that's never a good thig, but Edogawa Ranpo is a recognized author. It has potential. For continuing series I'll have Arslan Senki, Soul of Gold, Ninja Slayer (which I may or may not drop, I'm not really feeling it tbh), Sailor Moon Crystal if the S2 rumor is true, Fairy Tail and Ore Monogatari, so not much stuff. I just hope summer ends being a lot better than spring |

While I like the manga quite a bit, I'd recommend you readjust your expectations on this aspect. The first chapter is very loosely based on Snow White - after that, the stories are essentially completely unrelated beyond the fact that the heroine is name "Shirayuki" (i.e. "Snow White"). |

Here's what's gotten onto my radar:
Snow White with the Red Hair: I'm always willing to try something that looks like it could be a fantasy that takes itself seriously. Aquarion Logos: This is probably what interests me the most. I loved the first two aquarion series with their seriousness and intricacy hiding behind silliness and bombast. I really want to see what the third generation has in store. Chaos Dragon: Sekiryuu sen'eki: Again betting on something serious here. Gangsta: Seems like it's somewhat unusual, and I can like mob stories that are well executed. Gate: Jietai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri: this looks like it's going to be primarily a series for otaku-type audiences, but the idea seems like it could have some really interesting moments so I'll give it a shot. Symphogear GX: I saw the first two, and they were pretty cool and flashy. I'll try this one too. Game of Laplace: Don't know much about it, and it seems to have interesting aesthetics. Let's try it. |

Ah so its that time again. Made a brief comment over on Nick's post about his impressions but this is a good chance to be more detailed. Overall though this season seems kind of disappointing. A lot of these shows seem like coin flips to me and I cant say many leave me very hopeful. Doesn't help that this spring season has been especially amazing for me.
Sure things: Rokka no Yuusha I've read the source for this one so this is an easy pick. I really love the mystery and this should almost surely end up being my favorite. As an added bonus it will be a good chance for me to go through and pick out all the hints I missed. Gatchaman Its ****ing Gatchaman baby. No way I would miss this! First one was weird and not really my kind of show but I still enjoyed it. Symphogear I wouldn't really call this a good series but I've always found it fun anyway. Will be nice to see it return. Coin flips: Charlotte Tbh pretty much the only reason im even slightly interested in this is because I remember hearing it was from someone who worked on Angel Beats. It felt WAY too rushed but I did enjoy it overall. Gakkou Gurashi! I have no idea what to make of this one. It sounds like the moeblob "cute girls doing cute things" and zombie apocalypse genres crashed into each other full throttle. Ill definitely have to check this one for myself. Gangsta Some gang stuff with actual adult characters leaves me at least mildly interested in this. Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri The military part of this interests me. With that said though I worry that it will actually be a more typical "transported to other world" fantasy wish fulfillment. Still manages to be the coin flip I have the most hope for. Eh maybe?: God Eater Could maybe be interesting but I can't say I expect much from video game adaptations. Kangoku Gakuen Prison School I've heard it talked about a lot and its supposedly pretty funny. Plus I do like the idea that being one of few guys in such a situation would be hell. Everything I've seen of it so far though leads me to believe it will be trashy. Kuusen Madoushi Kouhosei no Kyoukan Sounds pretty generic but this type of show is my soft spot after all. Overlord I mostly just expect this to be a SAO clone. To make matters worse the MC sounds totally OP too. My inner gamer demands I check it out though. Hopefully it surprises me. Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace I know nothing about this one. I just like the look of it is all. That's pretty much it from me though ill probably still check out even most of the ones I didn't name but these are the only ones I have any real hope for. If I were actually caught up I would probably be watching Durarara and To LOVE-Ru Darkness as well. |

Definitely watching:
-Durarara: Please production team, wake up and give this show the direction it deserves! -Gangsta: Just a different art style and gangster setting was enough to convince me to watch it. I hope it's fun. Maybe?: -Akagami no Shirayuki Hime: Looks neat and some friends liked the manga, and playing with fairy-tales assumptions (as the title suggests I guess) can be cool, so alright. -Chaos Dragon: Like most people, only this out of curiosity to see what the hell Urobuchi, Nasu and Narita have come up with when they roleplay, and how many puns related with them we could make. But if it turns out to be boring then done. -God Eater: Videogame adaptation usually turns out bad, so I don't expect anything but cool fights with Ufotable animation, if it gives that then it could be fine. -Dragon Ball Z Super: To be honest... I only want to watch the first episodes to see what direction is going to take for curiosity and that's it, no more, I'm done with DBZ. -Makura no Danshi: What the flying hell? Is this the new level of blatant self-insert fantasy? How could anybody not be at least curious about it? |

It seems like a good time to post in this thread, since we're less than a week away from the new season.
Almost Definitely: Tribe Cool Crew - I'm just going to assume that this show is getting a fourth cour, since they just introduced a new storyline. Here's hoping they have time to bring back that tengu girl spoiler[I mean "girl tengu"]. Gakkou Gurashi - This is my favorite ongoing manga right now, and I'm very excited to see how people react to the story's many, many, many plot twists. Castle Town Dandelion - I'm going to love every minute of this, and then I'm going to be sad when it's over. Non Non Biyori Repeat - Renge, you so crazy! Probably: Gatchaman CROWDS Insight - Unless this season goes all jiggly with Hajime's character design... seriously, though, don't screw this show up, Tatsunoko. Million Doll - The manga is pretty good, and it is nice to see a show that explores some of the darker aspects of the Idol industry. Also, if people don't watch it, Yurino's gunna hafta become a strawberry farmer! I'll watch at least an episode: Gate - I've heard some pretty ridiculous things about this series, and the light novels look like they stole their covers from Rifts. Seems like it's worth a look. Dragon Ball Super - I'm still disappointed that they didn't call this show "Dragon Ball Extreme". It'll probably be fun to watch for at least a little while... probably not all 100+ episodes. |

right, so I think I know what I plan on watching this summer
First off, I'll be continuing 9 shows carrying over from spring. No idea if more Sailor Moon Crystal is on the way, but I'm done as soon as I finish ep 26. Gangsta: It's different and looks cool. Ushio and Tora: action packed demon slaying sound like a blast, and I like most of what MAPPA works on GATE: looks a little like Outbreak Company, which I liked, only more militarized, which I like even more. Classroom Crisis: RomCom Slice of Life on Mars, sure sounds interesting Symphogear GX: Its a fun show. not well written, but I enjoyed the previous two seasons A Boring World Where the Concept of 'Dirty Jokes' Doesn't Exist: this looks hilarious. might turn out to be a train wreck, but I don't care, lowbrow humor is what I'm after Charlotte: I generally like most of what Jun Maeda has done. At the very least, P.A. Works will make this a visual masterpiece. Working!!!: Liked the previous two seasons God Eater: Not really expecting much from a video game adaptation, but it has my interest and with Ufotable, it should at the very least look amazing Akagami no Shirayuki-hime: I like Bones, and I'd like to see their take on Snow White Non Non Biyori Repeat: Season 1 was great and I'm ready for more Overlord: A villain protagonist in an MMORPG, this sounds cool. And he's a skeleton Monster Musume: A harem of young, beautiful, mythical creatures, that's certainly a new one. Definitely willing to try it Himouto! Umaru-chan: This sounds fun. It's also a Dogokobo show and despite the subpar spring offerings by them, I like what they do. THE IDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls 2: First season was ok, but I liked it enough to keep going Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya Zwei Herz!: this show is fun, and Ruby is pretty damn hilarious Rokka no Yuusha: The fantasy setting is appealing, so i'll try it Sore ga Seiyuu!: following three rookie voice actresses. Shirobako turned out to be really good, so maybe this will as well Gakkou Gurashi! So, Slice of Life and Zombie Apocalypse, that's certainly an interesting mix. Prison School: this just looks really weird, and probably really bad, but it does have my interest, so whats the harm in trying it out Chaos Dragon: I'm not really sure about this one, but the staff attached this to project has my attention. I don't know what to expect here Joukamachi no Dandelion: sounds crazy, but could be fun. we shall see Kuusen Madoushi Kouhosei no Kyoukan: Right, so this is this season's generic light novel whos lead is viced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka. Expectations for this are rock bottom. However, since DanMachi turned out to be really good, i'll try this to see it tries to rise above generic mediocrity. Shorts: watching 8 this season My Wife is the Student Council President, Danchigai, Miss Monochrome 2, Wakaba Girl, Wakako-Zake, Million Doll, Bikini Warriors, Suzakinishi THE ANIMATION Right, so that will be 32 full length shows for summer and with the shorts added on, that's a new record number of shows for me |
