Hmm...How do you say "straight to video" in Italian?
In all seriousness, it is really hard to sustain a franchise over such a long stretch of time. All of the sequels/spinoffs for both JU-ON and RINGU do not attest to longevity of a coherent plot despite such creative marketing ploys. And with all respect to Takashi Shimizu, nothing can replicate how good those originals were at scaring the living daylights out of you in a dark theater.
So no, I think I'll pass. It will probably will be on Netflix so after release. If I'm wrong, I'll find reconciliation there.

I gotta say that when they were remaking alot of the Japanese horror films awhile back I found The Ring and The Grudge pretty good. The originals are miles better in my opinion, All Hollywood did was make them look better in the effects area but some of the tension and atmosphere was not as well done. Later on they even started making remakes no one even knew were remakes because of title changes and plot differences so drastic you would not know it was based on something were it not for the based on such and such bit in the start of the film. (Pulse is a good example, I love the Japanese version but the remake was a joke)
Pretty much everything these franchises have spawned in the US over the years are total crap and it would be better for Hollywood to leave it be. It was a time and a place that made those few remakes work and that time has passed so milking them isn't likely going to produce anything worthwhile.
I would have to imagine the only reason this 3rd movie is getting made is because of the decent success some of the more recent horror films have had like The Conjuring and Insidious and maybe to a lesser extent the Paranormal Activity movies(which have been run into the ground)
I will keep my eye on it as there is always a chance it may come out decent but still not holding my breath on this one.

The 2000's J-horror fan inside of me really hopes this can be good... but if it is straight to video, we could be looking at Grudge 3 material (no thank you). But the short film Rings was not too bad, so perhaps under the right director there could be potential, although I might be overly optimistic.

I hope this is more like The Ring than The Ring 2. Ring is still one of the best Hollywood scary films ever made (nothing since it even comes remotely close imo). Ring 2 was terrible on it's own and a complete abomination compared to the first one.
