While I am not the cleanest of people, I would do what I could to at least put my trash in the proper locations if I was there. Good job to this guy.

I wonder what series we have to look forward to hear him in.

Hopefully some studio snatches him up and give him a few roles.

Agreed. Looking at this article, I would hire him just from this nice act. If he got his big break (1st big role being a main or supporting character) from doing this, that'd be a unique story to tell people on how he got his start. |

There's also dearth of trash bins in Japan.

Listening to this guy's demo reel(s) at http://www.candoart.com/prof_jrmen/itoarata.html, it sounds like he'd do well for energetic teen boys to guys in their early 20s.
Heck, if he maybe lowers his pitch a bit, I could see him doing a harem. |

My thought after reading this: That's great, but who the hell is Arata Ito???
But I hope he gets a role someday. His voice is pretty good. |

That was very noble of him to do that, cleaning up after others. Here's hoping the Tweets of his actions will motivate people to be more mindful of the environment.

We just have to bring our trash home, that's no big deal. So not having garbage bins is not an excuse. If people don't want to bring their trash back home, then they don't buy things, that's all. I think it's normal to pick up trash that's not ours, I do it all the time. I don't do it each time I come across some garbage (I can't bring trash with me to a job interview for example), but I do it when I can. And I don't brag about it, nor do I take selfies to show off. |

You say that, but as enurtsol noted, there's surprisingly few trash cans and the few there are are usually pretty much overflowing due to the HUMONGOUS volume of people. That's not to say that excuses littering, but it's also disingenuous to say "well, *I* would throw my trash where I'm supposed to unless you're the type to haul trash back home on public transportation. |

I wonder if city budget problems may be the reason for the scarcity of trash bins?

It's probably more due to how Japan sorts it's refuse. There's actually usually a bottle recycling bin by most vending machines. (altho those are often full also) |

The "official" reason is the 1995 sarin gas attack. But it also avoids the government having to hire workers to sort the trash according to the great garbage taxonomy: Despite sorting, most are actually incinerated rather than recycled. |
