Is it possible to search for anime by release year, or release date, or something like that?

For example, if I watched, say, Vampire Hunter D, and wanted to find other anime released in 1985 to compare it to, would there be a way to do it easily that I have not yet discovered?

In the Encyclopedia there is an option on the right side under 'Misc.' for a 'Custom anime/manga lists' and here you can sort by date.

Then you have a long list but all you have to do is scroll down to the year(s) you are looking for.

All anime by Date

It only sorts by vintage date, not by release date in the US. However the Vintage for the Vampire Hunter D OAV was 1985 and the movie was in 2000, so maybe it'll be helpful to you.
