I know this will never happen, but please, please, please, please, please bring this out overseas. ANYWHERE as long as it includes an English translation, I don't care where I import from. MangaGamer did the PC's English translation right?

Fat chance of that happening though.

You could do what I did for Umineko and rip the script from the translation and follow along with it on a laptop. Worlds longest word document but it worked.

That's too much of a hassle for me to bother. I'll buy it if it gets an official English release somewhere, otherwise I'll pass.

To be honest, that'd just suck the enjoyment out of the game for me

I did try to find a lets play of the games after watching the anime to she what they were like. I did and the thing basically was just a book with sound the voices, I watched/read two chapters and the only thing interactive was the neat little facts and some short extra stories at the end of each chapter.

But I suppose that was the original, and later games might have had more features. Anyway if this came to the US I'd support it.

I'm curious exactly which arcs will be included, because some of the games replaced older arcs with new ones. And by "the previous games", do they mean the originals, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, and Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kai, or do they mean the other games as well?

Obviously, the original 8 arcs will be included (Onikakushi, Watanagashi, Tatarigoroshi, and Himatsubushi, and Meakashi, Tsumihoroboshi, Minagoroshi, and Matsuribayashi). But will Rei (Saikoroshi, Batsukoishi, and Hirukowashi) be included?

Then, of course, you have the PS2 game. It has the first 7 arcs, plus Taraimawashi and Tsukiotoshi, and Matsuribayashi is replaced Miotsukushi, which is an alternate version of it.

And then there's the DS games. Tatari had the first 3 question arcs, and then Someutsushi, So had the last question arc, the first answer arc, Hirukowashi from Rei, and the new Kageboshi. Rasen has the next two answer arcs, and then two new arcs, Yoigoshi (originally manga-only) and Tokihogoshi. Finally, Kizuna has both the PS2's and the original final answer arcs, Saikoroshi from Rei, and the new Kotohogushi.

So, in total, we have 19 arcs, some of which are combinations of other arcs or flat-out replacements for other arcs.

[pause]

Hmm... Crunchyroll's article says it'll have "all 19 chapters". So I guess it really will be all of the previous arcs. Plus new ones.

It sure would be fantastic if this was localized, but we all know that's not gonna happen. Confused

nooope. Maybe some minigames but that's it. Visual novels are like that (Higurashi calls itself a "sound novel," but whatevs.) There are some games that alternate between VN and some other type of gameplay like 999, or simulation type games, but most really are just either books or branching path choose your own adventure type books.

I went and checked on the greenlit version for Steam, apparently Mangagamers has finished retranslating the initial arcs and had new sprites made; scripting is in progress and translation of watanagashi is at 14%. No idea if the new translation will be used for foreign PS3/Vita releases or not, but if so that would probably lower costs a good deal.

I also would love for this to be released in the States. I adore Higurashi, so comments that say it probably won't be released here make me so sad. :c

Actually, I had a blast A friend and I did 30 voices each.

I certainly wouldn't complain if I could have a physical English copy of this game in my hands, but let's not get too wishful Razz

Would definitely be a better alternative to Mangagamer's Steam release purely because I don't really like Steam, PC Gaming or the new sprites.
