Not necessarily. They could be there in the cast list just for episode 1 or for flashbacks.

I can only forgive the show if Inaho only shows up in character relevant flashbacks, he was clearly shot in the head and as a character was arguably the dullest Main Character that I have seen in the past few years nothing good narrative wise can come from "reviving" him.

I doubt very much that they are alive mainly due to the tag line of the first season which was "Let justice be done though the heavens fall" which comes from a latin saying "Fiat justitia ruat caelum", and in particular refers to the example of Piso's justice.
In that case the Roman governor ordered the execution of a soldier on the suspicion of murdering his colleague. As the order is about to be carried out, the supposed dead person turns up and the executioner stops the execution of the convicted man. The Roman governor then orders the execution of all three as the supposed murderer has been judged, the executioner should have not stopped, and the supposed victim caused the death of 2 innocent people.
Using this interpretation that makes Seylum the murder victim, Saazbaum the executioner that stopped without orders, and Inaho the representative of earth, the person judged for the murder.
All three have been set to die from episode 1!

Oh gosh. Look at that Slaine, acting all high and mighty.
I guess he killed the other two main characters to steal the spotlight.
But honestly, although I'm not pleased with the idea that Slaine could be the sole main character in the next cour, I honestly don't want Inaho and Asseylum to return alive and well. I mean, I don't want any excuse like they didn't actually get shot in the head or magical technology whatsoever saved their life. It's like the first cour cliffhanger was built just to troll people.

I agree with most people. Hime-sama and Inaho need to stay dead. Princess already died 2 times, and Inaho's only purpose was to beat the knights. It would be a be story to have Slain take over the empire, deal with the aftermath of the war, and develop from that. Just about anything else is trolling.

If we go by everyone's suggestions (in the spoilers), then what of the fate of Aldnoah energy? Doesn't the princess and her bloodline, and those they choose within the Mars clans, need to be alive?
Not sure how Slaine controlled Cruteo's mecha. I thought Saazbaam's Aldnoah (touched by the princess) had some connection to it.

So Slaine will be Bizon in the 2nd cour and got killed by the princess at he end?
I kind of thinking that the 13th episode "Though the heaven fall" will be continue as "Let justice be done" in the last episode of 2nd cour where Princess deliver the Justice on Villain like Slaine.
The path Slaine take is just like Mitzusane from Kamen Rider Gaim but I wonder he will not getting atonement just like Mitzusane but die like a pathetic dog instead.
Character like Slaine can be seen in any Urobuchi work
Fate/Zero - Kariya
Madoka - Sayaka
Kamen Rider Gaim - Mitzusane

^One thing to clarify: A/Z isn't really considered an Urobuchi work. Urobuchi is credited as "Creator/Original concept" of the series and other than that, the only thing he has done is writing Episodes 1-3. Using the plot points and notes that Katsuhiko Takayama has written. The entire story is pretty much Takayama's baby.

The smarter thing to say would be the producers left an out in episode 12 for either case but I'm not saying what I'm betting on {mostly because I stopped caring after episode 5}; However, statements like this tell me a lot about this show's audience.
"'Heavens' is meant metaphorically falling but here it refers to war literally falling from the sky."
Justice in this case means not restarting the war, seeing how it would happen from an assassination... but doesn't that meant let's not have a war even while we have one? This tells me a lot about the show's producers. "It's sounds cool!".
Just pretentious enough to sound profound, just simple enough to be applied lightly.

Yall better get ready or you gonna get butthurt. Both of them are still alive. People survive gunshots to the head all the time, and all we see it is from the side. So you have no idea at what point he was shot from. The story still needs these two so they won't die yet. So get over your whining cause its gonna happen.
Asseylum was carried off by Slaine and Inaho was taken to the hospital. At the end when Inaho's sister was monologue, she said Asseylum was nowhere to be found. Inaho and Asseylum were in tge same room, yet they didn't say anything about him. Why? Cause he is not dead. She said, "Both sides lost a lot of people" which refers to unimportant characters in the story. She didn't say, "My brother Inaho died". Being an mc and not a expendable nobody, something would of been said. So cry more when Janurary comes around and you see they are alive.

I wouldn't be that surprised if they did.
We needed a shock for a final after all.

Slain was too inconsistent of a character to identify with. He was way too wishy washy. In episode 3 he shoots one of the conspirators but is unable to shoot Saazbaum in the end. Decisive one moment and indecisive the next. Don't give me that Saasbaum's story swayed him I mean come on... oh while I was trying to commit genocide of your planet the love of my life was killed but really I had to commit genocide to gain lands for my people because we have it tough on Mars and I was under the thumb of the emperor so its all his fault any way... What a sorry excuse someone as decisive in episode 3 would not be made so indecisive by such a poor excuse. Inaho was one of the main reasons I was watching this show. Seeing his cool, calm overly logical character develop and start to show emotions. The hero and the heroine developing bonds. That is what a SciFi/Fantasy is supposed to be about not this postmodern shades of gray, not this nihilistic dada junk. Well we'll see what happens with the next season but I do agree that bringing back the dead can be too cliche' and unrealistic but on the other hand well ....
