Isn't that cute that they've moved on from blaming Beavis and Butthead to Soul Eater? Rolling Eyes

That girl is nothing more than an arsonist, she needs to be sentenced to 20 years in prison and let the story die, this doesn't need to end up in a debate about Slenderman and violent manga.

Don't forget the girls from Wisconsin who stabbed people because Slenderman "demanded" them to.

This is less of an anime problem and more of a "please raise your kids properly" problem.

Clearly it's due to violent subliminal messaging and never because teens are basically dysfunctional and unstable people to begin let, nevermind additional problems that can be heaped on top of that.

I bet she listened to Marilyn Manson and played Doom as well.

And really "two characters get into a fight with each other," oh jeez, better ban literally everything in existence then.

Not to mention the 'influences' don't make a whole lot of sense. Why either of these would cause someone to burn her house is beyond me.

This story would be hilarious if it wasn't so tragic. Confused

The manga's story follows Maka Albarn, a death god in training who must capture the souls of 99 evil humans and one witch.

Maka isn't a death god in training. She's a human being with the title of "meister" since she is partnered up with and uses a weapon to fight.

And yeah, I'm not seeing how these "influences" would cause a teenager to burn their house down. It feels like one of those farfetched connections like when people try to blame violent video games for creating violent people.

The girl needs psychological help and counseling; her parents thought nothing was wrong with their girl that they raised. Because she just decided to wake up, and then burn down the house along with her parents and sibling based on human instinct.

It would be already bad enough to lay blame in any artform that claimed that burning up a house with your parents and siblings would be the right thing to do (because it's fiction, and parents should teach the distinction), but putting blame on two pieces of unrelated things is more than a stretch - Soul Eater and Slenderman have NOTHING to do with why this girl set her house on fire. There even isn't anything about setting a house on fire or killing your own parents and sibblings in the story at all.

Here are the key factors which should matter for a competent non-sensationalized news story: bullying and how her mother disciplines her. That's it. It just sounds like things would've "clicked" to this girl if it was a fight between fictional characters, or a dog farting in the dark.

There's a big "parents need to learn how to raise their goddamned kids" problem. If your child grows up being unable to distinguish between what happens in Looney Tunes and Grand Theft Auto games, and what happens in real life, then some of the blame falls to the parents for not raising their children to know the difference (assuming there is a lack of mental disability in the child).

Bullshit. The young woman is throwing out things that sound important (i.e. bullying, abuse, etc. . .) and blaming it on either her hobbies or things she finds other people doing (i.e. reading manga, playing games, etc. . .)

*sigh* They can always find something to tie it to.

God, what's next?
