Kitty is a little girl, and definitely not a cat ... She's not even, really, not a cat.
Sooooo, she is a variation of schrodinger's (not) cat?

Quote: | While Sanrio does insist that Kitty is a little girl, and definitely not a cat, she's at least not a human little girl. Or really, any particular type of little girl. She's simply an anthropomorphization or personification. She's not even, really, not a cat. |
Well at least Sanrio is giving people clarification. I was going to go into rant about their correction and how less of sense it makes, but even then she still a cat. Yes Kitty is not a cat cat, but she's still a cat no less. This is like if Sega stress that Sonic is not a hedgehog, but an anthropomorphization of one, but totally not a hedgehog. Really not a hedgehog. Definitely not! My sister said it best when I showed her this. They are overcomplicating this, and as such both of us are still going to regard her as a cat regardless of what Sanrio says.
And yes Bamboo this does remind me of the article that told us of Yoshi's real name and what species Mario actually is. Yet the reveal of Mario not being human, but apart of another species that's in the same genera as ours makes more sense then Sanrio explanation of Kitty's identity as a species.

So it's like how Totoro is a Totoro. Hello Kitty is a Hello Kitty. Makes sense to me.

And Mokona is Mokona and Kyubey is Kyubey.
Snoopy, meanwhile, continues to be a dog.

... and Stuart Little is NOT a mouse ...
Well, he's not, because he definitely isn't not not a mouse, while Kitty definitely is not not a cat.
So EB White beat Sanrio by half a century.
