I know, right? And stories like this would be far better to be an anime TV series. Remember they tried this with Bokura ga Ita and those movies were just mediocre at best.
But I guess I am a little curious how they're going to pull this off. Not expecting much though. :c

I've never liked shoujo live action adaptations. I suppose I'm being unreasonable but they look nothing like the characters, the uniforms are different, and often a lot is changed story wise too.

This is surprising! I'm actually reading the manga at the moment and I was wondering why there wasn't an anime or film. This will definitely be something I'll check out in the future. I just hope that they do a good job adapting it!

I really have nothing else to comment on it because everything you mentioned is true.

It spawned a VOMIC then a drama cd though; the vomic first was released probably at the height of the manga's popularity or earlier in the series; then in 2010, they released the drama CDs just as the manga was about to end - the 2nd and final disk was released perhaps on the same issue along with the last chapter.
Spawning a vomic and even a drama cd to boot, I didn't understand why this was never picked up as an anime. Hopefully someday if perhaps the movie was a hit, it could get a sequel/anime - well only if they do a good job at it though.......
