It's about time this level of security was implemented although that handshake window in that link should've been implemented. Anyone else thought that they should search coats and jackets as well?

"New security measures"? Those are basic security measures.
Not that I'm complaining. It's about time, and I think those "new security measures" are pretty much adequate for events like these. Now let's hope future troublemakers won't resort to the most basic weapon humanity owns... their fists. |

Unfortunately, Japanese bag checks are really underwhelming. Heck, you could carry a gun in the bottom of your bag, and they wouldn't notice (I would never carry one, let alone touch one). All they literally do is poke one item in your bag to move it just a weensy bit. It's like, "Isn't this a little bit dangerous?"
Also, really? A film less than a month after, promoting the idols and earning money off of a tragedy? Really sad. |

That is pretty much bag searches anywhere apart from major security operations. And really it is all that is needed. Anyone actually bringing something usually gives themselves away out of fear. They will act agitated or refuse the search. Those with the presence of mind not to do so will usually mean you won't find anything anyway as they have planned it well. All most bag searches will ever stop are crimes that aren't premeditated.

Plus, they could implement the Israeli airports method of detecting odd behaving travelers.
Oh wait............... |

I'd get some security dogs. Since this is Japan, how about getting some trained Tosa Inu?

Good thing they do their best to secure the safety of those girls. Normaly i hate j-pop however I love akb48... Maybe its because the short dresses or that they look to you with those cute eyes.. i dont know . Atleast their music doesnt give me brain damage unlike other j-pop artists.
Also i wish thye make a thrid season of akb0048 . |

The film was already scheduled for release quite a while ago. It was announced in January during one of their live concerts |

They release a documentary movie every year based on things that happened within the group over the past year, so it's not like that as iiRandom said above. It just happened that this incident happened before the movie came out, hence it obviously got it's own part in the documentary as it was major thing. The main theme of the documentary movie of this year was basically about the graduations of the top members of the group in the past year, with some highlights on the cancelling of Oshima Yuko's graduation concert due to heavy rain(storm) at Kokuritsu (Tokyo Olympic Stadium) on 30th March, which later got rescheduled at the Ajinomoto Stadium on June 8th. So they finished editing within a short month. |
