Anime Nation's having a sale on box sets, and it's been quite some time since I've watched an entire anime series, so I figured I'd order one or two of them. Now, I looked at the entire list and narrowed it down, but I'm still having trouble choosing two box sets. Here's the list:
Gunslinger Girl Kaleido Star Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi Mezzo Neo Ranga Saber Marionette J Super Gals I've been reading a bunch of reviews, and I STILL can't decide. I'm almost 100% sure that I want to get Gunslinger Girl, though. It's one series that I've been wanting to see for a really long time. And Super Gals sounds absolutely fantastic. Now, I'm a guy, but it doesn't really matter to me if the show is called Super Gals. Sailor Moon was one of my favorite shows in like 6th grade (and I'm not ashamed to admit it). So the second box set is pretty much a toss up between Saber Marionette J and Super Gals. Help me decide! Oh, and I would have a My Anime list for you to look at, but it doesn't want to work for me right now. I like pretty much anything when it comes to anime, and I'm always open for something new, and that's why I'm going to check out these shows. |

I'd say Super Gals and Abenobashi

I would have to say go with Gunslinger Girls, but then I'm not sure why your interested in the show. It's definitely one of my favorites (see my avatar). I like that the story centers more on the girls and the way they try to get by, despite their situations, and their relationships with the inept father figures who watch over them. It has a little bit of guns and action but in my opinion that is not the focus of the story.
I also like Saber Marionette J but if you have a little extra cash you can get the Saber Marionette J - Ultimate Collection DVD Set from right stuf. They are selling it for only 69.99 and it includes the first series, the OVA series, and the second series, Saber Marionette J - X. I bought it from there and I think it's a great purchase. And if you need some help making a "My Anime" list or making it public read this topic for some help. However this is a recommendations thread so it will probably get locked anyway. Not only because you didn't follow the guidelines in this topic, but they are not allowing any recommendations at this time. Read Zac's post to see why. |

Welcome to the board. I must admit our tastes seem to be very different since I'm not a big fan of anything on the list besides Gunslinger Girl which I've posted a number of thoughts on, on this site.
My other favorite would have to be Mezzo which has some good artwork, and fun characters. I've always loved Umetsu's designs. I avoided the series until the box set came out, since I didn't care for Mezzo Forte the OVA. The tv series is much better. stands alone well, and has a great OP credits. The show that I found hard to complete was Neo Ranga. I don't care for most 15 minute series, and this one was the worst in the group. I didn't like the characters, plot or the art in the series. The only cool thing about it is the nifty music. |

While I highly recommend Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, I recommend getting the singles (TRSI has 1 and 3 for $7 each) over the box set if you can find them. The extras in Abenobashi are worth the extra few dollars you may have to pay.

I had originally ordered both Abenobashi and Excel Saga (both thin packs), but I cancelled my order immediately after when I discovered that both of the sets are devoid of the extras. I wouldn't mind so much except for the fact that Excel Saga has one of the most useful DVD extras ever, and that's the subtitle track that you can turn on that has little pop-ups that point out all the references. |

Well I'm not off to a good start. I'm sorry. I did skim that topic yesterday when I was browsing here, but I guess I shouldn't have posted this topic in a rush (I was about to leave somewhere). Sorry for being such a n00b. I guess I'll just have to figure it out myself. |

I've only seen Neo Ranga and Abenobashi out of your list but I would recommend them both.
Abenobashi is very funny, it reminded me of Excel Saga. Neo Ranga is a pretty good giant robot anime, it's just a bit different than most but thats why I like it. |

OK, I finally made up My Anime list. I might have missed a couple I've seen, but that's pretty much everything. Firefox doesn't seem to like this site (I had to constantly reload the page when I tried to add something).

Sorry to do this, but I still haven't been given the OK to let recommendation threads be made. If anyone would still like to make recommendations to the author, please do so through Private Message. Thanks.
