While I first really saw Scooby-Doo in high school with KidsWB playing the repeats, I really did enjoy it (I also enjoyed because I now really love Great Danes). Hope his family remains strong.

I hope he finds peace now. The local press here in Washington followed the big stink his relatives was causing. Like so many classic voice talents, he will be missed.

Shaggy is really going to be haunting the Mystery Inc gang for sure now.
Thanks for give us our childhood memories, Casey. |

And 2014 continues to suck for taking so many talented people away from us.
RIP Casey. You were truly one of the legends. Everyone needs to send lots of love and support out to Kerri and the rest of his kids. I can't imagine what it must feel like to lose your dad on Father's Day of all days. |

Without the original Scooby and Shaggy voices and Hanna-Barbera itself, save for Frank Welker, I think that the recent Scooby movies/series lack the original series essence.

Scooby-Doo was a huge part of my childhood, and Shaggy was always my favorite character. This is really depressing. Like, really, truly enough to make me genuinely upset. Hope his family hangs in there, it can't be easy losing your father on Father's Day. Rest in peace, Casey.

That's really sad to hear. Just heard about it on Billboard just now. He voiced some of my iconic characters like Robin, Shaggy, Scooby Doo, and other characters. He'll be missed.

It's unfortunate, but it's not really a surprise. It's been in the news for a while now that he was dying. He apparently hasn't been able to talk for months, and they took him of a feeding tube earlier this week. Hopefully it was at least peaceful.

This is terrible. I have countless fond memories listening to Kasem as Shaggy in Scooby-Doo. He was also great as Robin in Batman/Superfiends and Mark in Battle of the Planets. I wish I could have heard more of him on the radio, but from what I have heard, he sounded nice, sweet and kindly. It's a shame his life ended in the midst of so much drama. May he R.I.P.

I grew up hearing Casey as Shaggy in Scooby-Doo, his roles in Transformers, and his role as Merry in Return of the King. Later, I'd hear him in animation again when I watched Rugrats in Paris with my kids.
Also, as a teenager in the early 1990s, I'd listen to his weekly radio countdown show on Saturday afternoons, writing down what songs were in what position each week. I think I can say, that to some degree, listening to Casey's show helped me decide to major in Radio-Television when I went to college. American pop culture definitely lost one of its icons today. |

Casey actually gave his adult children legal authority not to keep him alive once there's no hope for recovery, but family squabbles in court kept him alive longer. This was a long time coming; he deserves the rest. RIP
