Well THAT was a really powerful trailer. It at least looks like it will have directing on par with the first movie. That's one positive. It will be hard to adapt the Kyoto arc, but I can see it working out, much like the first film did.

The first movie was awesome, which is something I rarely get to say about live-action anime adaptations, I really want to see these bad. Somone needs to license them in the states pronto.

Most anticipated movies of the year:
1) Interstellar
2) How to Train Your Dragon 2
3) these two films
...only I won't be able to see them unless I also buy tickets to Japan. The first film I saw in theaters there, and it was awesome. So come on, WB, this is never going to get an American theater release no matter how much you want it, just release the DVDs/Blu-Rays already, we will all buy them.

I'm happy that Kamiki Ryousuke can honestly look like he can pull off being Soujiro like he said he would. ; A ;

I'm just curious how they'll pull off Aoshi's storyline in this, because of what happened during the last movie. :<

They managed to fit Saitoh Hajime into the first movie extremely well in spite of him not showing up until the Kyoto Arc, so I trust them to figure out something with Aoshi, who had to be cut for time in the first movie. My guess is he'll start out working for Shishio and have a change of heart.

What I want to know is, will we ever get any of Sannosuke's history (also cut for time)? and will Kenshin's teacher show up in these films? For the latter, I'm kind of hoping he'll be a surprise at the end of The Kyoto Inferno, but without any hints of him in the promotional material so far...

Speaking of which, I'm now even more sure that the climax of Kyoto Inferno will be the destruction of Shishio's ships. That shot in the trailer looked amazing.

Oh god, I hope it's Fukuyama Masaharu like the rumors are saying! (Unless it's finally been confirmed somewhere? If so, I haven't heard.)

vash: Viz will probably pick 'em up, like they did with Death Note.

The last news I heard on it said that the hold-up was on the Japanese side of things, that they wanted a limited theater release like they had in East Asia. I don't see that happening in the U.S. Presumably once they admit defeat on that end, it'll just be a matter of someone willing to fork over licensing fees for it.
