It's good to see that Lupin III anime is back on the right track.

Eat it, crappy TV specials. There hasn't been a solid one in several years.

Seems like they took away the pencil hatching. Or at least that's wishful thinking, that was the weakest part of the animation style of Fujiko Mine.

If nothing else it'll be nice to see these designs in action with an actual budget.

51? I'd hardly call that a film. An OVA, maybe. I was hoping for a full length thing. Oh well. The screenshots look nice. Eyepatch Lupin is right up there with Eyepatch Asuka in coolness.

To be fair the last TV special I've seen that wasn't too good was the 2011 TV special which was the first introduction to Fujiko's, Goemon's, & Zenigata's new voice actors. Which overall was a weak introduction to a not as TV special. The 2012 & 2013 TV specials were much better than the 2011 TV specials. They didn't do anything spectacular, but I can see a little more effort that was put into them. So they're listed in my favorite Lupin TV specials.

51 minutes about Lupin and Jigen. I wonder if this is basically just a teaser for a new sequel TV series.

Its not like the shorter runtime doesn't make it a film. Its still getting a theatrical release, and that alone means its not an OVA by definition.

Its about as long as the DBZ/Sailor Moon movies and a lot of other anime films from the 90's based on popular series (although I admit, those were usually double-features).

I dont mind the runtime being shorter than the other Lupin movies, I will still check it out. It is cool to see another anime production that uses character designs that reflect the original manga.

It's a shame they didn't bring Sayo Yamamoto and Mari Okada back on. I hope they come back if they make a sequel series.
