So, I take it the boyfriend attacked with the sword and so his girlfriend hit him in the head with a flower pot to stop him from killing the ex? She wouldn't have even had time had he just charged up his attack and used the 360 degree slash.

I was thinking he was trying to save his girlfriend from her stalker-ex. It was his home, and should have a right to defend himself from someone forcing entry into it. The flower pot was likely at the door and the nearest weapon on-hand for the ex.

I hope he (the one who used the sword) isn't hurt too badly, because that was quite awesome~
Luckily for him, Texas has the stand your ground law, which in my opinion, every state (more like country) should have, which is one big reason why I'm moving back there~

There's no cure for human stupidity. I hope we can inject common sense into people sooner or later. This reeks of the recent case of the Pentecostal preacher who died from a snakebite.

Replica swords don't typically have a sharp edge, but just by the nature of their shape, they're still hard pointy objects and are perfectly capable of hurting someone if you stab someone with it.

What person in their right mind opens their door when their is trouble on the other side and armed with a replica sword no less and not a gun? Plus it's freaking Texas anywhere else a over zealous DA would charge the innocent home owner.

Nemui_Nezumi: even a replica sword is still a sharped piece of metal it may not hold up to well to abuse or combat but it will stab and cut enough to do serious harm or death.

As for laws their aren't really any unless you intend to carry it with you on your person when you leave your home which in most states is a no no. So usually if your 18 or older and leave it at home you could buy as many real swords as you want.

100 bucks says the boyfriend will face legal action because he didn't use a gun.

100% legal. Even if you bought a dull edged replica as long as it's made out of a strong metal it's not that hard to sharpen it to near razor like condition.

I doubt the home owner will face any charges it's TEXAS with their stand your ground law if that replica sword is all he had to defend himself and he feared for his life he's golden. Try that in California and I can see some BS DA coming after him.

Their was one incident where a burglar broke into a home and the college student only had a cheap katana knock off and used it to nearly slice the guys arm off with a couple of whacks. Of course it didn't take the arm in one swipe since it was garbage but it was hanging on by a sliver of flesh and he did bleed out and died at the scene.

Since the burglar attacked him and it was all he had to defend himself he wasn't charged.
