I wonder if this means licensors are being less sue-happy over AMVs, and we'll be seeing more official ones in the future.

I don't care about the AMV...
You see those all over the place on the web.
I would rather hear about the Conan/Lupin movie being licensed for release in the US!
I saw the other Conan/Lupin (TV) movie and I was impressed.
It's a shame that neither series has done that well in the US... They're both excellent anime franchises.

Both franchises have large fan bases in Japan, but unfortunately something being popular in Japan doesnt always mean it'll do the same in the US. Which is unfortunate for both Conan & Lupin who both a long history before they had a crossover together. I do enjoy both series, I'm not too caught up on Conan but I am almost caught up with Lupin cause I've watched just about everything related to Lupin. I also look forward to buying Discotek's DVD of Goodbye Lady Liberty cause its the first TV special to start the yearly TV specials of Lupin and it'll be the newest American DVD release of a Lupin title until another one is licensed whenever that'll be.

I keep saying that Lupin did alright here in the beginning of the early 2000s. It just suffered from diminishing returns from the market being averse to single disc releases. As for Conan, Viz still publishes the manga, so someone's buying something from it here.

Yep I remember the large amount of Lupin titles that were licensed at that time. Until either the companies that own them either let go of the rights or let the DVDs go out of print leaving Discotek the only company to own active rights on select Lupin titles along with Funimation owning rights on the Fujiko series, but its questionable on whether they do still own rights on the 1993-2000 Lupin movies or not.

Who actually asked for this movie? Who demanded these franchises cross over? What a pointless endeavor. Lupin hasn't been in a theatrical feature in almost two decades and this is what they put him in? A crossover with Detective Conan? It doesn't even look like a theatrical movie. Where's the budget? It makes my mouth fill with bile.
Look, Detective Conan is kind of a fun franchise. But let's face it. Conan doesn't deserve to lick the skidmarks off of Goemon's loincloth. It's like crossing over Space Battleship Yamato and Bodacious Space Pirates.

You lost me, in what way is this considered a bad thing when its doing very well at the Japanese box office? Yet you are acting like you just watched Poultrygeist Night of Chicken Dead.
