Sweet, I hope by this time Oku's pacing has improved (and don't exaggerate things like in Gantz's second half)

Sadly, after the mess he did with Gantz's final phase and how utterly underwhelming the finale was (clearly he just wanted to wrap things up and have some free time), I've almost lost all my interest in any upcoming new work from him.

I wonder why he's not working with Shueisha. This seems to happen with a number of authors, such as the guys behind Fist of the North Star and Saint Seiya's Masami Kurumada.

Link: I dropped the manga series at about volume 12, or earlier, myself. He's one of those authors who just pads the story, more than developing it.
