Evangelion RoE: Think the VAs will return?

For both the Japanese and English versions (considering RoE is localized).

Just curious because it seems like in America, when a project is revisited and redone after a few years, many people just opt out.

EDIT: And did anyone else find it ironic a series who's financial situation was so poor it affected the ending is now rich enough to produce four movies ten years later? That was funny.

I am fairly certain that Asuka VA for the US (Tiffany Grant) version will want to be a part if possible. If you have seen the special on her on the Platinum version you would know that she is like the biggest Evangelion fan. So from that point I believe she will, but as to the other VA who knows Evangelion was so long ago perhaps they (VA) have moved on and don't want to return....

Maya, Kawarou, and Aoba all had different VAs in the English tracks of the director's cut episodes, so its safe to assume that a number of the english VAs at least will be different.

I think Matt Greenfield and Tristan MacAvery are pissed off at each other...

Don't know if that was ever resolved though, but yeah... John Swaysey took his place on the platinum thingy.

That said, who knows?

I mean... will ADV even put out for the thing (I imagine that Gainax or whoever will want bukko bucks for the thing)?

But... uhh... this is all speculation... it could be anything.

No need for a personal attack. I too find it somewhat difficult to believe that Gainax was in such financial trouble that it would pull something like Evangelion but thats just my speculation.

They weren't in finacial trouble in the begining. They had a lot of sponsors giving them money for the project because GAINAX had a good track record in making the money back. It wasn't until the sponsors saw where Anno was going with Evangelion that they started backing out and sending GAINAX into finacial trouble with it. People like to claim that GAINAX just didn't do a good job budgeting their money and that's why the last episodes are so full of still frames instead of animation, but the truth of the matter is that they lost a lot of the money they were supposed to have for those final episodes. Evangelion turned out to be something the sponsors weren't expecting and wasn't a guaranteed hit so they got scared they would lose money and backed out.

Why do some people persistently argue it was "super cheap" just because they saw lot more stills and experiments with the animation in the last two episodes than usual?

I was responsible for Kazuya Tsurumaki at a con some years ago and I also talked to Tensai Okamura earlier this year about evangelion's ending. Believe me, the controversial ending was first and foremost an *artistic choice* by Anno. Second thing is, they usually had three months from script to final animation per episode, production of animation lasted only 1 month (they worked simultaneously on for to five episodes with only 6 hours of sleep/night during production). If someone feels forced to look for another reason outside of artistic choice because he feels it's just an excuse, I'd probably would be time constraints towards the end, but I personally don't really believe that. The editing job in the last two episodes is huge and also needed enough time for preparation.

edit: @ Mini Jesus: Never heard this story directly from people involved at Gainax, but it sounds reasonable.

Since the Japanese VAs have been voicing the different PC Evangelion games, I believe it's a fair bet that they'll be back for this project as well.
