Well, I have seen the movie and it is...not bad.
I have to say that it did not blow my mind but I did enjoy it. I think that it tied up rather neatly almost all of the various story lines that were left undone from the series. Which was probably the intention of the producers in the first place.
On a previous thread, someone had stated that they didn't know why the Gypsy women were in the story in the first place. I've decided that it was a way to introduce Noah (the alternate Rose) into the story. You have to admit that Noah is a bit of a key element to the Movie.
I REALLY enjoyed the fight between Wrath and Gluttony. Damn, Gluttony's character design was...bizarrely incredible! Vicious, fat white blob that was all over the place! Best unidentifiable, blobby, vicious character design I've seen in a while.
I was sad when Wrath died but it was also fitting. He redeemed himself, helped Al and he was able to be with is Mommy in the end, who was waiting for him on the Otherside.
The one major thing that disappointed me was the quality of the animation. The animation itself was great...but it was the same as the TV series. This was a movie. Movies presumably have bigger budgets, ergo better animation. Both the Sailor Moon & Inu Yasha movies had better animation than the TV series, so I really don't understand why the FMA movie didn't. AH well, spilt milk and all that.
Regardless, I liked and enjoyed Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: The Conqueror of Shamballa.

I found the movie to hold out to be a good ending to a great series. Most definetly this movie beats the Naruto Movies, and it provided a great ending as in which Al and Ed do become reunited. <--- I think that was the ending I was looking for in this movie.
Gluttony's design was well done, and gave the disturbing feeling I think the animators were looking to give out.
Everything pretty much ended the way I thought it would except for the fact that Winry never kissed Ed... I thought they were closer . However, I guess it all works out.

I just watched the movie the other day and I was pleased. It did feel like an extended episode (animation wise) but that didn't bother me.
Were the Gypsy symbolizing the Ishbal people in the alternate world? That was my initial thought.

I think so because if you remember the end of the movie, the truck that Ed, Al and Noah got on was driven by Scar and Lust.
