Even though this comes next in the series, why don't they just animate Koimonogatari first? It ties into Nadeko Medusa apparently.

Closure would be too immediate, maybe? It IS supposed to take place quite a few months afterward.

Because that's not how the books were written, you may as well ask why Haruhi is shown out of chronological order. When the original is created like that, the anime should follow the order of release, since that is clearly how the author intends for his work to be read. I mean look at Kizumonogatari, that is the first incident chronologically, and Shaft has been sitting on that movie for years -.-
Besides they've already taken Hanamonogatari out of sequence, but I won't say where that places chronologically.
