Or hopefully Borders doesn't realize this is possible. Then again, I don't know if I should be telling you this, you buncha ungrat.....

Anyway, I found out that instead of a list price of $119.99, the Borders Express (NOT Borders) I go to had the Inu Yasha Second Season Box Set (with the stamps) for $50.00.

If you have the Borders Rewards card, you would've gotten this coupon in the e-mail recently:

http://f.chtah.com/i/9/276579820/coupondvd0810.htm

25% off one DVD over $20.00.

After this coupon, I paid less than $40 for the box set with the stamps. Thats what, 60%+ off the list price? I didn't use the Personal Shopping Day (didn't have in my case; PSD nets you an additional 10% off your entire purchase for the day) so you can get more discount in this deal.

Now I don't know if this applies to ALL the Borders Express stores. And I don't know if they caught it yet with my purchase. But if your determined enough, try and go for it Tomorrow or Sunday (the coupon is good till 8/13/06).

I had mentioned it before that Borders Express does have great deals on anime box sets. I have seen the 2nd box set of GTO, with shirt, for about $40. I've also seen Reign for $30. $50 for the 2nd set still sounds like a great deal that I dunno if I might be able to pass if my local Borders... Express... has it. I kind of hope they don't since I was hoping to pick up 3 more volumes of Samurai 7 for $40 at my local Suncoast.

Well, such cases are few and far between. But still...I got lucky, so I dunno if other people could benefit from my windfall.

Then again, i've kinda noticed that the BR promotions are getting extremely stingy as of late. I mean, the coupon itself I posted. You gotta spend $20 to get 25% off a DVD?? Weak. And some of the in-store Promos have also gotten stale. Glad I managed to find this gem.

All their dvds are over 20 dollars, they rarely sell below list price. However their book coupons are quite pathetic. I don't want to buy 20 dollars of crap just to get a discount off one book.

I almost never shop at Borders/Express. Even the better coupons just seem to reduce the price to what others sell the same items for. Some of the online stores like Right Stuf, Animenation, DeepDiscountDVD, Amazon, ebay, etc. seem to be much better at giving real discounts well below MSRP. Borders just yanks your chain most of the time. Glad you found a good deal, but I'd rather just buy from my usual sources instead of playing games with stingy stores like Borders/Express. I was almost happy to see Suncoast take a dive with all their MSRP crap.
