Because the sponsors want a young male demographic, and your average guy isn't going to want to watch a relationship driven dramedy. This is one series that you're probably going to have to buy because it's not airing anytime soon. We're just lucky we got Whispers of the Heart and Only Yesterday on the Turner channel's Miyazaki/Ghibli festival. Actually, from the description I've read it seems as if "X" could be a good candidate for a shoujo adult swim entry. It sounds like it might have enough action to get the required male viewers, and that's what comes to mind when I think of something I might like that might actually have a realistic chance of airing.
Trinity Blood is scheduled for the fall, so Blood + might not be considered for awhile with another vampire series already on the plate. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it showed up on AS, or even more likely Encore Action eventually though. Monster is very highly regarded, but it sounds like it's suspense driven with not alot of action. I would guess the Paranoia Agent ratings might be a good indication of whether Monster is a possibility, but I'm not familiar with those statistics. Ranma and Utena are older series, and I have a feeling they would have been picked up already if they were going to be. Sailor Moon and Gravitation? No. Way. In. This. Lifetime. Your average guy would run screaming. I believe Gravitation is available through the Anime On Demand channel though, if you pay the monthly fee. At least I remember it listed, I think in the Girl Power section (I'm on the east coast - I don't know if the offerings differ for other areas).
Actually, of everything mentioned, I think cheezisgooood's thought of GunGrave might be the best possibility. It sounds like something that would definitely get the same demographic that likes Bebop, Trigun etc.
Sadly, there's nothing I'm deeply interested in that seems to have a possibility of getting picked up anytime soon. For now I'll finish up Samurai 7 (apparently IFC has also picked up Basilisk and Gunslinger Girl, so the ratings for Samurai 7 must be good), and continue watching the AS and Encore offerings.

The shows that I would wanna see on [adult swim] are a re-showing of Fist of the North Star and GUYVER.

I would like for them to explore genres other than shounen for once, and see how the results would be. It may succeed, it may not, but it would be worth a shot.

A re-showing of FotNS? They never showed it before, so how can they "re"-show it?

Well, since we're going to suggest anime series that used to be on G4TechTV's Anime Unleased lineup (as Gungrave was), another series that was on Anime Unleased that could do well on Adult Swim is R.O.D. the TV. Adult Swim aired the three-episode OAV a couple of years ago and I think it did fairly well (though I'm not completely sure), so that could be a possibility. R.O.D. has all of the action and suspense that can tailor to the Adult Swim audience.

Because it would mean they were licenced and I could buy them on DVD, I'd love to see Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl) and Strawberry Panic! on [adultswim].
Actually, I think they'd both work well on there. Hell Girl is dark with it's revenge oriented storyline and filled with interesting deaths and drama. Also a twisted humor comes from Ai's companions and the art is excellent in my opinion.
With Strawberry Panic, it may be a more emotionally and relationship driven series than basically anything they've done before, but the entire cast is female. What guy wouldn't want to watch this series? The character designs are kawaii for some, sexy with others, and just plain nice. It's the Anti-Yaoi!
Also, I heard a rumor not long ago that [adultswim] was in a bidding war with G4 over Blood+. I have no idea if this is true but if it is, I kind of hope G4 wins since it would mean they were showing anime again.

Problem with this series, which I saw the end of, started getting a little too mature for certain people's likings. They would never be able to show it uncut.
