Well this certainly stinks. D: Thankfully, no word on anymore closings in Virginia.

And my store is still open! Though now that the two biggest stores in my area, Columbus Circle and Penn Plaza are about to go, it's going to be insanely hard to keep customers convinced that we're going to get through this.
Seriously, Penn Plaza going is a huge freakin blow. This summer is not going to be a kind one. |

Well, that's a big-ass bummer! But, if this is what Borders needs to do to survive, then I guess they have to close the stores. We have had 2 stores close in the San Diego area, one of which I used to go to a lot. There is another Borders I can go to & thankfully, that one is not on the list. However, I feel bad for those whose stores are closing & also for those who now (or soon will) have NO Borders to go to. I hope that this latest anticipated round of closings is the last and that Borders can dig itself out of this hole they are in.

One possibility:
Translation: Outright liquidation for one potential bidder. |

So, my Borders dodged another bullet again (the one in Tallahassee). But it sucks that 51 more in addition to 200 has closed down. :/

I just noticed it now, but why is US based anime news on the UK boards?

That sucks (checks list) Oh good, the last one in San Francisco is still open. But then again, I'm not surprised that one would stay open. It's in the best location for a book store. It's really close to San Francisco State. I wouldn't be surprised if a good chunk of the people who buy books there are students.

They have closed down all their stores in central Texas, but at a number of stores they have kept the signs up and left all the shelfs up. Its kind of weird.

That those stores have to close is indeed bad news, but if it helps the chain as a whole stay alive, so be it.

Well, looks like my store is still hanging in there. That's good, because the employees there are really nice and helpful people, so I'd hate to see them lose their jobs.

Damn the one in the Huntington mall in West Virginia was on the list. Now that Borders and FYE are both gone down there I have no more reason to visit that mall anymore such a shame it was a little bit closer than the Charleston mall.
Luckily I didn't see Charleston's Borders store on the list so they will still be alive for a little while longer. So I guess that means from now on I'll be going to the mall in Charleston as long as they keep both FYE and Borders even if it is just for a little while longer. |
