*sigh* Another "MMO" series? Rolling Eyes

At least .Hack and Sword Art had some pretty big differences. But this sounds exactly like Sword Art, just a little less depressing.

It's not like SAO, because this will be like an actual MMO with magic and ranged attacks and the ability for other people to know what level you are.

I've heard Log Horizon "corrected" everything that Sword Art Online failed miserably on (better characters, more team dynamics, etc). I'm not too enthusiastic, but I'm still curious.

And a BMW 3 series looks just like an Audi A4?

People might as well say "you're not the first person to say that" as a response to every line spoken with that logic about anime. Log Horizon is its own anime. I'm not sure why people even bring up "another SAO copy" when they see an anime of a similar plot.

I could go for a third season of Sekaiichi Hatsukoi though. =\ At least to balance the scales a bit from all of the harem, ecchi, shounen anime being licensed. Kuroko no Basket is almost here. Sad Almost.

....uh...what?

Anyway, I'm hype for this. Instead of it being people trapped inside a game and trying to get out, it presents the a parallel world.

So... its about people that are stuck in an MMO, but aren't trying to get out?

According to another user its got better writing and characters than SAO, which is a plus. Thats really all I needed to hear to consider giving it a shot. If it was just an SAO clone I wouldn't have given it the time of day.

it depends on how you look at it. Writing is such a meaningless thing if the story is not good. Better writing = know your target audience. If you write a story like novel, it will not work with anime fans. Minimalist Writing is more similar to Light novel, it works well with anime fans.
"Targeting Your Audience" is first thing that you learn from writing class 101.

Crunchyroll often only streams anime for the initial simulcast, and then it's licensed to a bigger entity later down the road. Odds are pretty good that FUnimation or Sentai Filmworks may pick up Log Horizon, even if it's only to cash in on Sword Art Online's success (as I understand it, Aniplex USA's BDs are selling very well, and the Toonami ratings have been strong, considering the timeslot).
