Oh yeah, Samuel L. Jackson voice-acting, that's gonna rock big-time. The action looks cool, and the animation is different from the usual Gonzo stuff. Music by the RZA is nice.

On the downside, I fear that this will turn into a gigantic Kill Bill and Samurai Champloo ripoff. The animation and drawing style, the hip-hop music, the trailer's mood, even the gore, everyhing looks like SC. And the main character in that trailer is SUCH a Mugen clone IMHO. A samurai who seeks revenge with the RZA's soundtrack and SLJ, that's some Tarantino copy.

If it's as good as it looks, I think I'll get the uncensored DVD versions, regardless of it being a possibly blasphemous and blatant piracy act.

I just wonder what Shinichiro Watanabe and Quentin Tarantino have to say.

Oh and By the way, I really liked the Classic Samuel L jackson part at the end of the trailer Wink

The music was the best part of the trailer, I hope that RZA keeps the music like that. It's very fitting, if you just watch the trailer with no sound that what I would expect to play in my head. I am actually likeing the animation a lot, looks very sharp and of course the violence is there.

I didn't really see the Mugen clone all that much but the Bride theme seem very apparent in that trailers, just from the flashback to the eyes. But hey every story nowaday seems to be about revenge. It's just a bit odd since Kill Bill was a story with swords and gore.

Reminds me of Pulp Fiction.......does he look like a B!#$%!? Got to love Samuel Jackson huh? Well looks like I might be watching Spike TV for the first time in a while.

While I think this will turn out to be pretty good, that trailer just didn't do it for me. I think it was a bad trailer all around. I don't know exactly what it was but I just felt very underwhelmed. I don't know just left a bad taste in my mouth.

edit:
Fixed grammar.

And to clear anything up, I do expect this anime to be pretty darn good, just had a problem with the trailer thats all. Wink

I sort of agree. I've been pretty excited from hearing about it, but the trailer just made it seem like some ultra-violent cool samurai ownage thing, which I was sort of expecting, but the trailer made it seem just pointless. From what I've seen on the website though, the characters look great.

I beg to differ, that was one of the most bad-ass trailers I've seen in quite a while. And this isn't just a movie right? This one is definetly added to my must see list Razz

As for as I know I believe it is suppose to be a series set for Spike TV, part of there new BA program line........I wonder when this show will air, at what day and time. Judging by that violence it looks as if it will definetly have to be on at 10 like Ultimate Fighter was.

uh because it's based on the manga (1999) then it's made way before Samurai Champloo was ever created. Do some reserach first before making wild accusation. Can you imagine there are still tons of people that don't know most anime are adapted from manga.

On a postive note, music by RZA is what I'm looking foward to the most. The trailer is pretty cool, it give u that ninja scroll/violent vibe yet it doesn't totallly give away the story.

Man, that was an awesome trailer up until the end, when he actually spoke. Did that kill the whole thing for everyone else, too? I had to watch it again and exit it before the end. It just seemed to me like someone with eyes as cold as his were, he shouldn't be talking like that or about that.

I'll check it out, but if the voices are like that, I will immediately stop watching it. But the RZA music has me psyched - go Wu!

1 million an episode? Whoa. But, Samuel L Jackson is in it after all. Looks cool. Im going to watch to see how it is. And yeah to whoever said the voice was weird and ruined the tralier, I agree, a guy with cold eyes shouldnt have a voice like that. Its cool that Spike is getting some anime. Did they ever have any before?

UH okay, thanks much you're such a pro. I ain't "making wild accusations", I'm just posting a cool trailer. I said it LOOKED like a big ripoff, that's all.

And if you're such a smartass, then tell me: if it's not a little ripped off Tarantino, why is there Samuel L Jackson and the RZA in a Samurai revenge movie?

And whatever you say, doesn't the clothing and hair of the samurai look like Mugen a bit? The gore? the animation? Yeah right the manga was published before. Ever seen manga with colors? With movement? Not me. Manga with hip-hop music? Not me. So think a bit before replying that way.

Also, to those of you who said the voice doesn't fit, you missed the point. To make it simple: Samuel L Jackson=Badass. He always speaks that way. The best badasses are not the silent-whiny-emo revenge type but more the arrogant bastard type. So he's PERFECT for that role.

The trailer WAS a bit underwhelming but the end makes up for it IMHO.

Dargon: The Boondocks parody fight scenes look better than the ones in that trailer. But it's not uninteresting. They just look like they might need better writers.

epixeltwin: You can't argue that Kill Bill's being ripped off, when it's already a rip-off.

I wonder how the story will go.....makes ya wonder. Also I didn't think the animation was terrible, but to wach his own.

Oh if one of the mods would merge this with the other Afro Samurai trailer that is now talkback that would be very much appreicated.
