Well, at least he got to see the movie.
I'm truly disgusted that these movies are having a hard time finding a theater in the Chicago area. (Yeah, I know it doesn't become official until tomorrow, but so far no Landmarks are showing this title.) What's the point if you can't get into a major metropolitan area consistently besides New York and Los Angeles? |

Hmm I wonder why people pay for it at all.
It was released in Japan as a FREE fan ANIME I have all original Episodes as they are free. only near the end of the series(First Season hopefully and proberbly) FUNIMATION saw that it was a succes. and decided to sponsor it. in the beginning it was simply sponsored by; The Kadokawa Bookstore and Victor Entertainment. |

What are you talking about? Funimation licensed Trinity Blood before it was released in Japan.
What's more, Trinity Blood was broadcast on WOWOW, it's a commercial product designed to make money through ad-supported broadcasts (on WOWOW in Japan and on Cartoon Network in America) and DVD sales. Wherever you heard this "Free fan anime" stuff, it's BS. -t |

Those are fansubs. It is generally accepted that fansubs should never be 1) sold, 2) rented 3) distributed after the show is licensed. Since the fans made the translation freely, they include the statement that it should not be sold or rented. Obviosuly that's not the case with the commercial translations. skuld.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/lexicon.php?id=63 So, in answer to your question about why someone would pay for it, because if you enjoyed the fansubs, you're supposed to destroy your fansubs and pay for the legitimate product when it comes out. -t |

Yea that because those are fansub. When it say that it's free it means that these individual episodes are not for sale. But what you are doing is stealing, and is against the law.
Huh? I thought funimation licensedthe show part of way throught. The encyclopedia shows that the first ten episodes were released before there was any announcement. Did they licensed the series before it started, but waited to make the announcement? Delta Kiral |

Essentially. Funimation doesn't annouce a license until all the paperwork is 100% final. Like all companies, they may also wait for the most opportune time, if they finalise licenses for 10 titles the week before a convention, they aren't going to announce them all at the convention, they'll save them and announce them 1 per convention for a few months... At the very minimum, IIRC, they agreed to license the series before it was released. I'm not privy to all the specific details. -t |

Don't worry about it. One of the unfortunate aspects of the current situation of this industry is that many fans don't fully understand the situation. ANN's job is to inform them. Now that you know, you can do what you want, but it'll be an informed decision. -t |

FUNimation announced the license for Trinity Blood around the time episode 10 was aired in Japan. Incidentally, this is also around the time Shinsen started subbing the series (something that was often left out of the fuss made when FUNimation served that C&D since everyone focused on the unannounced titles)

Yeah I remember when everyone when crazy over that C&D letter. But the thing that people always forget is that Speed Grapher and Trinity Blood were both being fansub.
That a great way of putting it, regardless if people are going to watch fansub or not, you at least be informed of what your watching. Till next time, Delta Kiral |
