I'm once again running low on things to watch =(. Looking for more advice and maybe some info on something that's come out in 2006 that's good.
Anime Series that I've completed and enjoyed:
NGE + movie
FMA + movie
Lain
the old Hellsing
Fruits Basket
Elfen Lied
Ghost in the Shell - the old movie
Chobits
Samurai Champloo
FLCL
Cowboy Bebop
Wolf's Rain
Full Metal Panic (all 3 seasons)
Anime Series that are not complete that I am still enjoying:
Naruto -(well, without the fillers, havn't watched it in a long time)
Bleach -(I actually keep up with it since the filler isn't that bad)
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Tsubasa Chronicle
Hellsing Ultimate OVA
Series that I am currently watching and enjoying:
Gantz
Haibane Renmei
Gunslinger Girl
Witch Hunter Robin
Things on my To Watch List:
RahXephon
Ghost in the Shell TV series (quick side question btw, is 2nd gig another name for stanalone complex?) + 2nd movie
Ereuka 7
Welcome to NHK
Flame of Recca
Berserk
Escaflowne
Scrapped Princess
(Yes I know that's kinda big, but I go through it suprisingly fast plus it's not garunteed that I'll like everything on it, for example, not too sure if I'm gonna like Flame of Recca/Berserk/Escaflowne so I want a large queue of stuff )
And finally manga I'm reading or plan to:
Naruto
Bleach
Welcome to NHK
Hellsing
Fruits Basket
Gantz
Pretty much, I have a large variety of intrests in my series. Comedy is good as long as it's not slapstickish (things like the comedy in Fruits Basket and NHK = win for me.) I go through action/violent series very fast and their without a doubt my favorite. I don't really mind a blood bath either (however - the sexuality in Gantz is really pushing it. They do waaay too much to that poor Kei girl.) I also like a good mind fudging every now and then or a more psychological story (Loving Haibane as much as I do Fruits Basket, NGE, NHK and Lain; it's so shiney looking too ) I also don't mind long series at all (in fact prefer them) however I hate filllers >
To be honest anything with lead characters as kick ass as Alucard and Seras Victoria would probably catch my attention too. O_o
thanks in advance <3

[EDIT: Wow, that list really takes up space . If you don't have one already, make a My Anime page and use that next time. Thanks. -TK]

Like I mentioned, it needed to be updated, added 20-40 titles to the list (wasn't keeping count), edited the old post so the pages doesn't get any longer :O
edit: counted em and it's 48 more titles, still gotta add a few, but I'll do that later (gawks at a count of 164 titles )

Jesus jrich, don't quote that It's too long as it is anyway (and it's a list, reasons are good!)
It seems like your tatses are.... more or less exactly the same as mine. (though I didn't like Chobits that much) I would highly suggest you check out my public list.
A few notable shows from different categories that I think you'd like:
Twelve Kingdoms - Words alone have a hard time describing just how awesome of a fantasy show this is, absolutely second to none in it's category.
Hunter X Hunter - The very epitome of shounen. Right up there with Bleach and Naruto at their best in my book.
Monster - In the mood for a show that may leave you sweating simply due to its style and pure intenseness?
And for manga? Two words, and don't let ANYONE trick you otherwise. Death Note. Don't read anything about it, just go and buy the first book, you WILL like it I promise.

I hear that Higurashi is more of a darker series. Chrno Crusade (that's how it's spelled in the Title, at least the one I have O_o) is very watchable. I especially like the OP Tsubasa wa Pleasureline. I don't wanna say too much because it would ruin the series, but the basic concept is nuns with guns.

Chrono Crusade is a good show and if you have the showtime movie pack with showtime beyond you can see it on fridays with reruns thursdays (its almost over but when its over they should start it over at the begining like they always do with anime) they also show Peacemaker reruns after Chrono Crusade every friday and the same reruns thursdays (peacemaker is only a few episodes in now)

Chrno Crusade requires you to have to somewhat grind through the first half, as it isnt top tier material. That said, it does have one of the best ending scenes I have ever seen. That scene along could have jacked it up 1-2 tiers. It did for me at least.
I would recommend Air. I think it would fall under the category of tragic (I dont want to call it tragedy, since i dont believe it ended on a sad note), which is semi-related to one of the genres of Elfen Lied. The animation and background art for this series is amazing. I personally found the story to be extremely moving.

what would yall compare Trigun to? Is it Hellsingish close range gun fights or more ranged?
I renember seeing a few episodes of Outlaw Star on Toonami a few years ago, is that worth it at all also?

I haven't seen Trigun, myself, but I've heard it's similar to Cowboy Bebop, which I have seen, so I bet you'd like it. I'm actually interested in seeing trigun, myself, so yeah. I would recommend Paranoia Agent and Tenchi Muyo OVA, but I'm not exactly sure why. You seem to have a pretty well-rounded taste in anime because you watch all different genres, so I'm not sure if I can give you a particular reason on why I'd recommend them to you. I just know that I like them and think they're good. But I can tell you that Tenchi Muyo is a harem anime (a guy surrounded my many girls), so it involved a lot of comedy, a little romance, and then it has an actual plot, of course, too, so it has some action. Paranoia Agent is really weird, but good. It's like a suspenseful mystery type of anime. Ah, IDK, it's interesting. It's really hard to describe, but you should give it a try.

I renember seeing all the Tenchi series completely a few years ago on the older Toonami. They were okay but compared to the things I listed, I really didn't like them as much (Only thing I really renember that stands out is Ryoko kicks ass with her lil cabbit spaceship.)

And to answer that question: 2nd gig is just what they call the second season of GitS. Both seasons are considered Stand Alone Complex. The first season is GitS: SAC and the second season is GitS: SAC: 2nd Gig.
